Sounds weird, never happened to me and I've used it for some time now, try and re-install it. Steam never bothers me and I get great deals sometimes, just wait until the christmas sale for example and you'll see what I mean. I bought Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of The Year Edition for a lousy 7,50€ a few days ago, great game!

No, you don't. As long as you have the "Keep this game updated" (above the cloud setting) setting on you're fine.

hmm for the first time ever, tonight my Steam broke, and i had to End task in system tray.
imagine what would happen if Steam was messed up forever. like they went bankrupt or something. no company is invincible. I feel too much reliance on 1 system nowadays. We still need hard copy distribution. i feel. with no activation via steam. i know its good in many ways. but never fail to have a backup plan. the thought of steam going bust having an effect of whether i can play IL2 in the future is not good. |

I agree with you, I think the thought crosses a lot of peoples minds. Valve has said they will release a patch that will allow these games to run without the service should they ever go bankrupt or whatever. I'm not positive if they will or not, but if they didn't the community would most likely fix that pretty quick. I used to play a game called Interstate '76 back in the late 90's (great game) and Activision has long since shut down the multiplayer servers. This was over a decade ago and had nothing to do with digital distribution. There are many similar stories for other games out there as well. Luckily there are talented people out there that make other things possible. |

Even if Valve does go out of business, the steam program doesn't magically disappear from your computer. And since steam works perfectly fine without a net connection, you can still launch your games normally. |

True, but there are games that use Steam for multiplayer service. If Steam dies, so do the servers. Though there aren't many things in life that get an honest life time guarantee
![]() ![]() Back on topic though, I'm really liking the new patch changes. If they smooth out the frames over land I'll have very few stutter moments left. I've got 20+ planes dogfighting over the channel which is more than enough for me right now as I get used to the new flight models. |

There is no chance of steam going broke - they are filthy rich and make more each day than most of us do in a lifetime.

I have 2 PCs in my house and I had to verify each one once after Steam shield was released, and none since. If not you may want to bring it to the attention of Valve, as it sounds like it may be a bug. I'll do a little looking around and see if I can find other users having similar issues. Edit a: Okay you can turn off Steam Guard in the Steam settings. Just look for the big button in settings that says Steam Guard settings. (This means Steam will not verify your account when it is logged into an unrecognized computer). Edit b: You can always try this I can't seem to find any other answers, and no other cases of people with that particular issue Fireflyerz, so hopefully one of these can help you. If not as I said try Steam support and let them know the problem you are having. Last edited by Kikuchiyo; 03-30-2011 at 07:25 PM. |
