Did you reboot after installing the game?

SONAR is definitely gone. You don't hear other plane's engines, but you can hear their guns firing, if they're close.

Okay, here's my experience - installed, set the most basic things up (some controls, screen res, flew a quick mission. All video settings on medium.

Then I turned off the epilepsy filter, flew some more - already flew better. Then I've tried the 6 fighters vs 9 bombers mission - slideshow at first. Then got better.

Then the patch came tonight, fixed the microstutters, megastutters when attacking bombers (still the FPS are declining, but performance altogether better), and I can enable AA now - looks even better.

Here are my system specs:

Intel Core2Quad 9650 on X48 chipset
4GB RAM
ATI 5870 1GB
on board sound
Win 7 64-bit

Haven't crashed once. So, with your system specs, either it has to do with nVidia drivers (some people who have nVidia are complaining) or you're doing something wrong. I have a friend who's running DCS, for example, with about a dozen other applications running on his very high end machine, and then complains about occasional stutters.... Wonder why ?

What I would also do definitely would be to check the game cache integrity through Steam. BTW, you can't be running the game without Steam, it starts whenever you start the game.

S!

I run on medium as well, disabled shadows, roads etc. too. Over water acceptable, but over land stutter and easily seen dip in FPS. We would need a document on what could be safely tweaked in conf.ini to improve performance or image quality etc. The GUI is quite limited in this matter.

Gonna run a quick test with the patch, then off to bed

actually a few new drivers from Nvidia + a few patches along the way would be some nice bandaids in the opening phase of the game. I think many small patches may come better than a large one in two months. The stuff that needs fixing obviously needs it bad - for those who wanna play it on max with plenty of planes. Meanwhile once I get the game, I'd be more than happy to fly Solo in a spit just to learn the plane on max difficulty Got a feeling it's going to take some time

S!

Found an oddity while testing. Took the DF mission with Bf109/Bf110 vs Spits/Blenheims. Dogfight seemed quite fluid an only a few stutters/stops here and there.

I noted the same as others that could not hear the enemy planes, yes SONAR is gone. You hear them but VERY close. Also gunfire is heard only close up. But what I did hear were the hits on the enemy planes, either the ones I shot or my wingmen. Kind of strange.

I have DCS A10 and it runs fine.. no crashes and smooth.. I also have ROF... same...

I run the exe straight out of the steam folder.... if I try and start it through the steam program it crashes... I have other games on steam and have no drama... I actually like steam...
My drivers are about 1 month old.. so not that out of date... but I will check to see if there a new ones tonight.

I will try the cache check and see if I ended up with a corrupt install. This game has a lot of potential but at its current state I think it is doing more harm than good...It might of been wise to release and labelled as a beta that i only availible when you pre-purchase...aka A10. I liked that and dealt with the problems but this is a finished product...

colours do seem a bit strange (compared to previously pre-released screenies)

a few crashes after making options adjustments

stutterry and throttle has gone wierd. (trying to indicate 100% on the throttle when the stick is at 50% travel)

@ Gonk...
where is the COD.exe in the Steam Folder?
