Default Secound thoughs on CoD - Things are looking much better

Guys just update on my gaming experience on Cliffs of Dover.

Now I don't know what's happened, but after starting CoD again after a brake, I am suddenly getting a MUCH better FPS and performance from this game. I am currently playing on all graphics settings on HIGH level and I have an amazing FPS. I am over the SEA so I don't know would happen if I would fly over a city for example. Somehow I feel that I have managed to remove the antiepilepsy filter, perhaps the line in the conf.ini worked afterall?

I did test approaching those bombers again and it did start to stutter really bad again, the game became a slideshow, but as soon as the airplanes were more far away again the performance was really good. So it does give me a lot of hope towards this game. Also setting clock to 6am and watching sunrise I have to say that actually everything about this game is REALLY beautiful when you are flying on high altitude. So perhaps I was a bit too negative in my earlier review.

I'll go to sleep now do more testing tomorrow.

After tweaking some things, game play is much better than original. Now waiting for next patch to fix some big issues.

I've read that rebooting after installing the game does wonders for the performance.

Yep I am positive now, the anti-epilepsy filter is definitely gone from my IL-2 the performance is so good. Now there is still a lot of tweaking needed to be done for sure, but now I am starting to believing in this project, the experience of playing this game is totally unique. I just saw blue fumes flaming out of my engine and it looked beautiful at 5am in the morning, and I was in top of london and still getting a playable framerate, but offcourse not as good as over the water.. (all graphics details on HIGH except shadows disabled).

I don't know if I could get such a good framerate from the international version tho, as we don't know if it is possible to disable this filter from that version..?? Well nobody knows at this stage. But it runs so well now that I wont install the international version at this stage..

I have to say that not has any game ever given such an feeling of "being there" as this game. It does feel totally immersive, as if you were really flying the plane.
If someone could help me to find binding key for changing the seat, I cannot get into any other seats in my planes as the keybinding C (which is supposed to be default) doesn't work for some reason, so I cannot test any other seats except pilot seats..

Anyway time to go to sleep now, long day behind..

So you have an i7 920 2.7ghz, 12gb ram, ati radeon hd5850, settings on high, filter off (you think) and it becomes a slideshow if you approach bombers (ie, it's unplayable).

Sounds like it's still too early to judge, do you know if you're getting the use of your ram (ie, if it's running in 64 bit)? And could you find some settings that allow you to play the game smoothly (ie, allow you to dogfight over London) and let us know how low you had to set everything).

Its not playable when approaching planes too close in fights. However no graphic setting really make difference onto this so i think that the problem is in CoD itself and it is not really up to hardware.

It is playable above london when just sightseeing.

I dont see why the multiplayer would not work in russian version as it is running fine from steam already?

I havent installed any patches yet.

I can confirm this. The game needs a computer like IL2 4.09 + UP, loads much much faster, and the terrain quality is very low compared with i espected from 6 years develop. But, the positive think is that this will alow much better online war!

In my system, the game runs at the same speed at full quality and at low quality settings. It's slow in the sim core, not in the graphics core. Manual engine control, really makes the sim go slow.

I admit i'm quite dissapointed. Generally speaking russian games suffer with poor performance, i'll never understand why, it doesn't seem to matter who develops them, but you can almost guarantee they will be buggered to some extent.

But i did not expect it from the latest IL2 Game, i'm very surprised.

The graphics aren't even that good, yea the planes and water look nice, but you wonder whats eating up all the resources, there's nothing that amazing going on (that the eye can see anyway).

Is everyone else missing trees?

@legtaste yes it is not a bug, il2 works the same way, reason being that if you play multiplayer and someone is on low settings with few trees it would look as if someone hits an invisible tree.
