Back to topic:

Nice post Jason. Ipurchased and have being flying IL-2 from the very beginning, have purchased and fly usually ROF and have booked and will fly a Collector's Edition ClOD. Not a point of competence between them, they are just complementary!. One only needs to love Aviation and enjoy !

Luthier, your offer is highly accepted. Please give us this side by side comparison.

Guys please dont hijack this thread, argue elsewhere, this is meant to show unity between RoF and CLOD.

This community can't keep a thread on-topic to save their life.

Other than that, I can only echo Jason and Ilya's sentiments.

You know I've been putting off buying 'Rise of Flight' for months now, but seeing this heart-warming show of unity from them has got me to go out and order RoF tonight!

Nice thread Jason!

Soon to be very spoilt for choice virtual pilot,
BobTuck.

Salute

Glad to see Jason posting here.

I hope everyone who is interested in seeing a vibrant flight sim hobby thinks carefully and realizes that creating these programs is very expensive and demanding, and doesn't return a lot on the investment.

So before anyone tries to start up a "this versus that" flamewar, they should realize it is in everyone's interest to support ANY flight sim which comes out.

I have bought every single flight sim which has been published in the past 15 years, and will be purchasing any new one which comes out. (in fact I buy multiple copies of the sims which I am particularly impressed with)

Some of the flight sims which are published are more successful, others less, but without our support, there will be very little reason for the designers and developers to risk their time and investment.

And if no one is willing to take the risk, we will have no hobby.

When I consider the huge number of hours of enjoyment I have gotten from IL-2 and RoF, (and many other sims) and I divide those hours to the cost of the sims, they are the best bargain to be had in the entertainment field... compare the dollar value per hour to any other entertainment, film, TV rental, dining out, beer.... etc. etc. and you realize flight sims are a huge bargain.

Think about it.

First, anyone posting anything about COD who may or may not have a loose affilaition (mod or beta tester) with us does do so on their own accord and their opinion is just that, their opinion, not that of 777 Studios or it's employees. Nor have they been encouraged to do post anything about COD anywhere.

Personally, I don't understand the weird competition on the forums between ROF and COD. It's baffling to me and wasn't like this in the old days. Ilya is my friend and we just recently had dinner together in Moscow (see this article for a pic) and both companies face the same challenges so it's pointless to do anything other than enjoy this hobby and make our products in the spirit of friendly competition. Everyone benefits as result. And I assume the feeling goes both ways.

I and others on my team got our start in the IL-2 universe so we have no ill will towards this franchise and appreciate all this franchise and the people behind it has done for the genre.

777 Studios and the Rise of Flight Team wishes Cliffs of Dover great success as it only helps the genre as a whole.

This forum is heading for idiocy very quickly. I never believed the wild theories about the sound...

But the truth!: The click noise - I always hated the click noise - it isn't the same as the menu one is it? Out of all the noises to keep...

(Absolutely serious btw. )

Un freaking believable. It's amazing just how much some in this community lack imagination.
