First, allow me to apologize for topic redundancy.
Ok, friends. I thought I'd voice an observation. CoD's major WIP terrestrial visual flaw, I think, comes from the lack of realistic day-time atmospheric perspective. (excessive, pretentious explanation): The Earth's atmosphere has vast amounts of vapor and gas particles that are refracted by the sun's light waves. A byproduct of this natural phenomenon, perceived by the human eye and brain, is the color blue. This concept is referred to as "Atmospheric Perspective". Here's a little example. ![]() However. Currently, what I've seen in Il-2:CoD's clear day-light shots is this sort-of gray smogginess that suspends over the landscape. What makes this more striking is the excessive unfiltered vibrancy (not necessarily the color) conveyed by the Earth's surface at inappropriate distances. Alternatively, after observing the video clips and screen-shots, I think the WIP game decidedly looks its best under dusk/dawn lighting effects. The landscape is blanketed in a soft orangey atmospheric hue. Compare any dusk/dawn shots with daylight ones. http://fooblog.mexxoft.com/category/...s/2010/page/2/ From here or anywhere else. Any thoughts? I haven't heard much mention of this. |

Guess we'll have to wait until we can experiment with time of day/atmospheric conditions options in the mission builder before we can comment on this one.
hopefully the sim doesn't go down the route of artificially limiting our view through the use of smog/haze just to keep framerates up. On a good day we should be able to see for miles and miles Cheers! |

Yes, and also remember that any screen shots you see of the game are taken from another machine with likely different settings than your machine.
Also, This is simulating 1940. Things were a lot different then. I would rather see them do super clear than slightly off if they had to make a choice. I have seen days that were so clear it was incredible. Those days are seldom here, but they do happen. |

I would not worry too much. Il2 has always had options for the amount of atmospheric haze, compare these pictures taken with clear and hazy weather settings. The second picture is very close to your picture in the amount of haze.
![]() ![]() Edit: Just came across this picture (Thanks Kraken). Seems there is no issue ![]() ![]() Last edited by David603; 02-14-2011 at 11:50 AM. |
