I would rather bye the box copy than down loading it. I hate down loading games it takes to long, the box give 1 hr installing and patching and your playing.
Down loading you waiting 6 or more hour then may have a power outage or some so you may have to re down load the 6hrs again, it a pain in the sun dont shine

You would think that someone at Ubisoft Australia could pick up the phone and get the warehouse to send a few sets sent out for sale through their Ubishop. Apparently not! So, what are our alternatives? Can anyone suggest a reliable UK site or similiar, boostep.com looks like a possibility. Must be a way to sort something out.

If we all can send a email to Ubisoft aus rally up and get the numbers spread the word on what going on, we may just get them to send them here.
and if we can have some help from 1c that will be really fantastic.

I wouldn't bother emailing them, I did and never got a reply about the Collectors Set. Ring them up and speak to someone who may eventually get annoyed enough to do something about it. But don't hold your breath....

Xactly

If 10 guys on a forum yell "we want collectors", it won't do much

If 500 call them to place an order, they might change their minds.

Collectors are expensive for the publisher. It's a higher risk taken on inventory costs (think about unsold copies) for a lower margin (in %).
So if they think they won't sell many in a particular area, they won't offer it.

Same here, in fact a freind of mine bought a DVD version of Napolean Total War which is a Steam game, only to find that the DVD only contained a link to Steam to download it online. So i didnt buy that game, as i have a cap of 10GB a month on my internet. I cant afford to spend £1 per GB over my limit, just because Steam says i have to. Especially when I already bought the game.
If they did that with IL2, that would kill me.

You can install steam games from CD you just have to wait for the game to unlock on steam and then install it!

Would it be illegal if someone copied the European/Steam edition to one of the torrent sites and we download it from there? When you install it on your computer you could activate it through Steam and pay that way. Just a thought. Could spare us 3 weeks of waiting. I'm not talking piracy here. I can barely see the logic of a staggered box release. A staggered digital release throws me really for a loop. I hope for 1C's sake that the program does not get cracked before release in the Americas.
