With all due respect Krazee DD but how did You end up here posting new thread about basics without reading anything , anywhere and at the same time expecting to be treated seriously.

We are killing each other in the air using MG's or/and cannons.
No cover, no med/healt packs no instant death (when somebody clip Your wings at 5000 meters and U cannot get to the parachute it is a looooong wait for death)
Ballistics, leading the target and of course the most tragic part...yea ... landing
Am done for tonight
Any Questions about how to take off are welcome
I'm here for U

Welcome to the world of 1C Maddox, Krazee. There are many ways to find and join a forum you had no knowledge of before so don't let the holier-than-thou mob get to you. Forums exist to help.

You'll know by now that this is a WWII (1938 through to 1946) Air Combat Simulation that is rated by its followers as the best ever. Good flight models, good damage modelling, good maps/terrain/scenery and a community of helpful and often really good 'virtual' pilots. Many belong to the on-line server community where you meet and take on other virtual pilots from all over the world.

For practice, in addition to the off-line Quick Mission Builder mentioned there are a limited number of ready-made short off-line missions. You simply pick a Country to fly for, select one of its aircraft types and then a mission created for that country/aircraft and go fly it. On the other hand QMB does let you choose which a/c you will fly and how many of what type (and what skill level) you will fly against.

If you get on-line you may like to join a Squad(ron) of one historical nationality or another although many such Squads will fly on any side on-line, depending on the balance of numbers on the server they go into (usually through Hyperlobby). Also many Squads run their own servers either permanently or part-time for training or historical missions.

It can be a steep learning curve - not so much how to fly but how to survive - and flying with a Squad or teaming up with others on a loose basis will help you a lot.

Hope you give it a try.

Shortly put, one of the games you can never know all about. Anyone who claims to do that is a bad liar. Also pretty addictive, especially online(after you've learned the AI and some basics).

Some claim the graphics to be dated, and some go for, well, illegal game modifications to "improve" way or another the various aspects of the game, usually mentioning graphics first. I dont think graphics are important in these kinds of games... But then again I also play Matrix strategy games. You know the ones where you play half a year to lose against AI. Il-2 is pretty similar, you can play for a year and still not learn the basics. Not that I have.

If you're going to get the game, practice the basics offline(takeoff, landing, set up some unarmed AI bombers to have some gunnery practice etc.) before jumping online. Online servers vary from "airquake" style games(you can jump on these practically right after install & updates), more difficult, usually objective based axis vs. allied ones(that you are likely leave shortly frustrated if you dont know the basics, at least) and campaigns. To keep playing fun but to keep learning and giving yourself new challenges, you might want to begin with the easiest ones and move to more difficult settings once you start feeling you might survive a sortie/get a kill or 2 on it.

Don't forget to have a 'thick skin' ... and 'bad attitude', when dealing with most on the forum and flying online.
You look to have the former already..... now!, for the bad attitude

And those videos do not represent IL2 1946

They are illegal modded game versions.

One thing the OP will have to look out for, if trying to get correct information, are the film makers versions and actual in game films.
