Due to various problems with MDS features, some of them had to be postponed, including multicrew (a shame, it was one of my favorites), until we find a solution. Current delay is much about MDS too, so press your thumbs, that at least something of it will stay in in the end.

Ah... no so funny, I know. Main features are doing fine anyway.

Damn shame, but to be expected when your trying to wrestle things out of the code it was never meant to do. Here's a toast to going "a line to far".

I'm curious if it has anything to do with the basic structure of the game - those .sfs files.

It seems after every update that more are simply tacked on to the existing product. It would seem to me that it could be more beneficial to replace them instead? This could streamline things and keep certain parts of the code from interfering with the new ones, no?

(I'm programming illiterate btw)

No, that has nothing to do with the SFS files. The reason for new SFS files, added to the game, is simply, that patches need to be small enough for downloading. If we would just edit existing SFS files, you would have to download almost the whole game each time of a patch. And there is no possibility of dynamical file-changing during an installation - so to call incremental file updates.

Oh sh***...

MDS is one of the main features in my eyes... the best addition to IL-2 ever. Well, I could live without Multicrew, but moving objects, radar, load-out and spawning restrictions... those are essentials.

Anyway, thank you for the update, Caspar.

As long as the navigation aiding tools are still there, I can live happily without MDS, even without new maps, without some fancy Italian aircrafts, without the winged pig called Hs-129 ) And just don't forget, 4.10 is only the beginning of the whole new game simulating the night battle over the Reich. Only kids fly in daylight, in good weather, seeing enemy AC from 10km away, diving happily from 9000m and boasting about their kills. Real men find their own way in darkness, using it as the main weapon to sneak behind enemy, coming as close as 100m before firing. I really hope that DT will continue their magnificient works in radar and avionics.
Just want to say thank you DT
