I would also like to point out that bombers of all categories have their quirks. Currently I'm playing a Ju-87 campaign, and I am cruising with the formation at approx. 300 km/h. As the group approaches the target, the formation re-organizes from an echelon to single-file. This involves some planes slowing down. However, this happens instantaneously, and I find myself shooting past the formation and then scrambling to slow down and find my place again, in the midst of flak, enemy planes, etc. That and the incredible climb rate that the AI has (although I find I can always keep up in the horizontal) among other things make campaigns challenging in all the wrong aspects.

It's practically impossible to play the stock campaigns in the level bombers. He-111s are sent to do the impossible work of bombing trucks on a road, and the AI routines kill what little ounce of immersion remains.

Bombers are only good for targets it seems :/
It is apparent that the Artists behind SOW have to respect the fundamental fact

that the Air core is auxiliary. It is there it has to assist the activities on the ground.

Bomber crews are the true heroes of WWII and the same applies for the previous but also

the later theatres, therefore a superb game like the forthcoming title should abide to this

Norm and invest in that aspect.

Closing, i understand that dog fighting is an extremely successful stress reliever and appeals

to the general public and shouldn't be scorned for it provides substantial sales on each own,

apart from the fact that it is surrounded by each own myths and the "promise" of easy

sex .. However we must never forget about those that really have guts of steal ...

Best Regards.

Unfortunately Gaga SoW is carrying on in the same idea IL2 did regarding bombers.

Don't quote me on this, but as far as I can remember these aircraft are slated to be flyable:

Hurricane MkI (possible variants based on prop - sorry, tiny pilot not included)
Spit MkI
Blenheim Mk IV (aka Bolingbroke)
D.H. TigerMoth - 2 seat trainer.
Bf-109 (possible variants with or without cannons)
Bf-110 (D I believe)
He-111
Ju-87 B-2
Ju-88 A-1
Fiat G-50
Fiat Br.20 (bomber)

Su-26 as a demonstrator of the FM to current pilots, and just for fun

as AI:

Gloster Gladiator
Vickers Wellington
Avro Anson (2 possible types)
Avro-Rota Cierva Autogyro
Supermarine Walrus
Short Sunderland
Boulton Paul Defiant (possible night-fighter variant)
Blenheim MkI (possible night-fighter variant)
Bristol Beaufighter
FW-200
He-59
He- 115
Do-17 (two variants with differing engines)
Ju-52 (with and without floats)
Fiat CR.42
Bf-108 Taifun

Pretty comprehensive if you ask me, especially for a first release. With 3rd party input it will only get better.

PS- if anyone wants to update this list, go for it, I'm only going off memory.

We get what we get ...

whatever we get ( Bombers & their behavior) has to be carefully developed & not just

thrown together .. with the rest of the hard selling content (fighters)....

Isn't there anyone with integrity out there?
What makes you think this is only a problem with Axis (Blue) bombers? I've flown both and the stupid AI don't drop in either case. Yes would love to see this fixed for il-2 and done right from the beginning for SOW! Agree with you bombers are forgotten sometimes.
