This is what I envision. Maximum of 7 plane dogfights with me as host and monitor in an plane with no gunner (I'll have to think about that) except my heat. Eight planes is all I feel comfortable with to avoid the lagging problem. I don't need any more anyway. I will have heats involving 1 each of the top fighter aircraft in the game. I want at least 5 pilots for each plane type. More is no problem! The pilots in the heat are not in competition with one another. They are in competition with the pilots of their planes in the other heats. Say I have five or six heats (which WILL happen). The top three pilots by score of the six heats of their respective aircraft move to semifinals. The top pilot of the three heats will fly the plane in the deathmatch. Pilots choose their plane and only fly that plane.
Example" Heat 1 Heat2 Heat3 Heat 4 Heat5 Heat6 Spit pilot 26 45 51 32 66 12 The Spit pilots of heats 2, 3, and 5 will move on. so forth with all the other types. I am thinking of replacing the LA7 with the YAK3 or just adding the Yak3, depending on pilot input. If there are more than six pilots, and there is definately going to be in Spits, I will have heats of just that aircraft and the top six in score will pilot that aircraft in the competition. Rules: One 20 minute dogfight in prelims to find pilots. The opening six heats are also one 20 min round. This is a deathmatch. Bring your best game or die. Losers are DEAD and cannot continue. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! A tie will broken by deaths. Least deaths wins. If deaths are identical, we will go to a landing competition on a 20 min CTA match. I will monitor landings in a PO2. The final deathmatch will be a 30 min frenzy. Pilots not showing up forfeit. That's it. If you crash you crash. There is absolutely no way to determine an intentional crash. Besides, until the deathmatch final, deaths may just count against you. An opponent crashing and the attacker not getting credit happens all the time to all of us. It is part of the game and is fair play. Collisions? Oh well. I don't see how this tactic can win anyway. Everbody I fly against NEVER collides intentially. Basically boys, get in their and maximize the points any way the game allows. If you think rockets and bombs can win it for you, bring 'em along! No whining will be listened to, only ignored. I get my ass kicked regularly and don't whine about it. No shame in losing to better pilots. The thing for me is THE FUN OF IT and keeping it simple and not taking weeks. A couple of 3 hour events should do it. Maybe less depending on number of pilots. We all have bad games and good games. Just hope some luck comes your way and a pilot in another heat has a worse game. Luck is part of it, just as in real life combat. The goal is to crown which plane is the best fighter in BOP in sim mode (excluding I153/16). This will be determined by the best pilots flying that plane against the others. If you don't like the rules, please don't join and make the rest of us miserable. This setup is quick, down and dirty. It promotes ruthlessness, desperation, nerves of steel, skill, and cold blooded murder. Maximizing points is the only way to play. Last edited by lost cause; 02-10-2010 at 01:49 AM. |
