Hi
I am new here so I thought I would introduce myself. I used to fly a lot online with the IL2 PC game but got fed up the mods and the cheaters so I stopped flying. This version is less complex, but a lot more fun. I started flying on-line a couple of days ago. Not much going on, but when I did find a game, it was fun. I got shot down a lot until I got used to flying in arcade mode as I prefer realistic. I am now practicing in Arcade mode so I can give back some of the hot lead you guys gave me the other night. Hey welcome
![]() What console are you playing on? Check out some of the threads with people's names to add, although over time playing the game online you will see who's active. Add as many people as you can that you see playing the game, because the game "looks" dead online, but it often a lot more alive than it appears. If you have people added you can see when and what they're playing then join up ![]() Hopefully see you in the skies - if you're on PS3... |

Usually plenty of games on Realsitic and SIM too. I was invited to an Arcade game recently and found it harder than Realistic/Sim as the planes were all flying at Warp speed. Enjoy yourself on Arcade, do a bit on Realistic then progress to SIM and be totally hooked on this awesome game mode. Dont believe anyone who tells you otherwise!

Welcome to the fourm. I myself have only played a few times on arcade and never really liked it. I played most on realistic but now all I play is sim. Once you get used to it you will not go back.
I had been invited to a CTA match on realistic yesterday and did poorly, because I had grown used to having to look for my target unlike the realistic mode where you have a lock on view. Take a look at the leaderboard for the system you are on and start by adding those guys. Just send "IL2" in the subject line of the friend request. |

Tried the sim mode last night for the first time. I found it quite hard without my Track IR which I used in the PC version.
I am also finding that there is a difference in the lead required for deflection shots when playing on line. I suppose I need to just practice more. Are there any tricks I should know about which will help with this process? Oh yes I forgot to add that I play on the Xbox. |

A lot of people agree that the AV8R joystick is better than the controller. I especially like the hat switch on top, which is very useful for looking around.
If you want some descriptions of the planes and their handling, check out this thread. For the rest, I can only say: practice, practice and then some more practice. |
