It would of been better then putting tons of models of the same plane when players only fly the best of the models

This is not entirely true some people play online with planes nobody fly's and still do good.

Speaking of the spit I see all three versions of the plane when I play online. Yes your argument is valid and the p40 would be excellent, I myself wish it was in the game. But here is hoping that they add it to the sequel.
