A few sims stand out for me that i had mass amounts of fun on..the most notable are....
The first one is CFS2 (combat flight sim), the second is B17 the mighty 8th (start clip from 2:05 to see it start moving) and the third is EAW (European Air War). These are clips i did some years ago now. I used to love flying these games. On the first clip, with the lancaster bobmer taking off... i made this lanc myself in game. Code letter VN-B this was the code of the lancaster my grandad flew during the war, the song "abide with me" he always used to sing to himself in the rear turret while taxi ing and taknig off, and the picture at the end... my grandad, god bless him ![]() |

I haven't owned a PC since the early to mid-90s so I am going to have to go old school on this and bear in mind the standards for a 'sim' were a lot less exacting back then:
Battle of Britain: Their Finest Hour Aces Over Europe Aces Over The Pacific X-Wing Tie Fighter Most of those by todays standards would rank more in the arcady side of things, but back then just having red-outs in the Aces games was pretty amazing. Their Finest Hour came out waaaay back in 1991 and actually had sprites instead of polygons and ya know what? It was awesome, thats where I first learned how to do immelmans and split-s's. How do you realistically simulate an X-Wing? I think LucasArts did an amazing job trying and it was one of the best games I've ever played, def a top 5 ranker. If you've never played any of these get dos-box and give it a shot, you will have a blast. |

Man this topic brings back memories...
The first and only flight sim game I really played was on Amiga500 (yes, many many years ago - was just a kid) and was named Birds of Prey! So that's my second favourite after Il2BoP lol. |

The sims i spent the most time with are:
-IL-2 (its simply the best prop sim) -Fighter Squadron-SDOE (excellent physics, fantasic mods and add-ons, almost a sandbox with planes) -Janes Longbow 2 (my first sim on a 3D graphics card, l loved those hellfires lighting up the grund in their path) -Janes F15 (my first jet sim, and with groundbreaking graphics and detail) OT: The BF1942 with the Desert Combat mods. Not a sim, but i spent hundreds of hours online. Fantastic gameplay on very open maps. |
