On topic , the only 'cheap' planes that I'd say are out there are the Arado if the other side doesn't have the Me-163, and the B-17 if the other side doesn't have one. They're not unstoppable, but you need a good and well-coordinated side to bring them down, and the people flying them to be not so good with 'em.

The cheapest things out there atm (to be fixed in a patch soon) are crashing after being damaged to deny your opponent a kill (the honourable thing to do is stay in the air as long as possible ), and crashing into people trying to land on CTA, but you deffo don't sound like the type to behave that way .

Oh the joys of party chat no more having to listen to them annoying little shits!!!

though on a side note on IL2 i seem to notice if im not in party chat that the players who do actually talk or communicate seem pretty down to earth and fairly decent.

Crashing once shot is a cheap trick and pretty low, but sometimes cannot be helped. The amount of times im at tree top height trying to get some distance from ym foe and a cannon round will tear a wing apart..... its not easy to avoid the crash, yet they dont get the kill, instead i get the crash. It is a shame. The patch will solve this problem though thankfully.

if your rear gunner is shooting at me, then common knowledge says im not going to just stay their and let you destroy me!!! i will evade and come at you from a different angle.

So i dont think it is cheap. I think its your oppenent being a complete knob for staying their in the first place and crediting you with a comfortable kill.
Well Ive come across quite a few of these complete knobs while flying bombers in strike and they are easy, cheap kills. Even more so if you are playing sim mode with limited ammo that runs out before your IL2-M can be killed. I'm not saying its a bad thing to do. Just as long as you don't think you are the best pilot because you get lots of kills in an IL-2M.

I don't know why some people think cheap = cheating. Cheap = Easy and not much skill required.

Yeah, when I had my mic IL2 would be one of the games I would use it for (along with Burnout Paradise). But in a game like Call of Duty I would never use it if I weren't in a party with friends.

But On Topic: I think I'm going to have to be using the IL2 a bit, to unlock some planes, and to get the achievement. But I'll try not to just fly straight and let my gunner do all the work. That would be boring anyway.

crashing into people in CTA is unavoidable for me for two reasons

a) The av8r has yet to get brakes

and b) It worked for me unlocking the IL4...alls fair...

if you don't like it then don't land in a predictable way...anyone else had wacky races round airfields?

In response:

a) The Thrustmaster doesn't have brakes either, and I've landed an Me-163 on realistic (still haven't managed to take off again though ). You can use your rudder to steer as well, so it shouldn't be that difficult to get around someone.

b) Indeed, it's in the game, so no-one can stop you, but don't think people will respect you either . That's not to say it doesn't happen by accident when strafing and stuff, and I never assume someone's deliberately crashing until it happens a couple of times, but after it has, the game just devolves into two sides slamming their planes into an airfield. Just seems a bit silly to me. I got the IL-4 m'self without crashing, wasn't too hard .
