Dedicated servers?
My apologies if this has been answered, but is there any chance that dedicated servers will come to this game? I don't even know how it could be done, I guess someone setting up their xbox as such...I dunno. It's just it feels like you have to "catch" a game. With so few games idling in the setup phase, especially in simulator, it's tough to find anyone to play with.

Xbox live uses peer to peer technology for internet gaming. As such it is impossible to have a true "dedicated server".

Not impossible, some games do have dedicated servers. I think the reason there aren't many is because of the added cost of upkeep for the servers. It's just easier and cheaper to go with peer to peer.
The new game "section 8" for the Xbox 360 has the option for users to download software so that Xbox 360 users can use their computers as dedicated servers. I think this is a great idea and hopefully something that more developers pick up on in the future. Bop 2, I think, could use this to great effect. |

There's no way I'd let someone connect to my home pc as a server. You'd be nuts to take that chance. Rent out a server to be professionally hosted sure, but not my home. Screw that. It's one thing with a 360, there's not much they can do but a DOS attack, but a pc...no way.
I'd like it if we had the option with this game to run a dedicated server on another 360, I might buy another copy for that. That's how Vegas went which allowed 2 more players in the room. |
