I've been forced to use a Win 8.1 computer for over a year now.
I've had no problems with running IL2 as described above. IL2 will load happily from the "apps/charms" page, although I avoid doing so since I vastly prefer the desktop interface ported over from Win 7. The only issue I've had is that I recently purchased a set of CH Pro Rudder Pedals that WILL NOT WORK on my computer under Win 8.1. Other folks have reported intermittent issues with CH products not playing happily with Win 8.1. It's probably a hardware problem / lack of drivers rather than an issue with Win 8.1 itself, however.

Been running WIN 8.1 for a few months now. No problems at all with my CH HOTAS.
