Online as well as offline? Could you share your system specs please?

Both. I play on ATAC. Offline is when I crashed most to tell the truth. I tend to only play online now whilst I practice my bombing techniques and have never crashed the program to this day. I still may, but I don't think its as virulent as people make out, def not a game breaker. I think most of the ATAC team would attest to that.

Mac pro 1.1, 4 gig, 2 x zeon 5150 dual core processors running at 2.66mhz, win 7, gtx460.

Re CTD's - just info we've picked up on over the past few months:

1) Seems to happen mostly online (Peaveywolf's experience notwithstanding)
2) Happens mainly in high intensity situations ie dogfights (extremely aggravating)
3) multi-engine formations over prolonged periods of flight. ie. bombers ingressing/egressing from mission targets (extremely aggravating)
4) happens in high-graphical load situations such as low level flight over terrain
5) happens on moonless nights when Jupiter in conjunction with Venus

What to do?

1) wait for the patch. Devs acutely aware of this memory leak problem and should have it resolved.
2) erase 1C Softclub Cache folder (including Shaders folder within) prior to eac session
3) after each sortie exit then re enter CoD
4) don't fly bombers in intense dogfights low over terrain, particularly in formation

No guarantees to any of the above reducing or eliminating CTD's. No one seems immune. I usually fly online daily ~2 hrs and, following step (2) only, have suffered only one CTD (screen freeze, actually) this year. Just as I was lining up on a 110 flying low over the Dover coastline. No, really....I was. Very aggravating.

Some use Memory boost utilities with reported success; can't hurt, I suppose. No one seems immune, powerful machines/low end machines all seem to get hit. Can't hurt to have lots of RAM with Win 7 64 bits to use it; but I'd wait for the patch before spending money on this reason alone, IMHO.

Flying alongside 104th Iron Mike in his 110 made me CTD. I was in a 109 just flying all over the place looking at a new mission. Something about them multi-engine Axis planes that cause it.

I'm pretty sure cheaters arent nearly the evil force you might think Ramstein, its a small communty and most people you see, you have seen before if you fly a bit.

Besides, why would you go through all that trouble to learn the plane, tweak a pc, get proper position, etc......just to use a cheat.

I hear you guys - I'm certainly getting a lot of the same problems. One of the more annoying (or useful, I suppose) issues is that when you first start to crash you begin to stutter each time another plane is rendered in your view. So now I'm simply scanning the skies looking for stutters instead of planes when this happens.

I do not feel that these issues are great enough to stop playing altogether. I certainly rage quit after some CTD's, but I've gone through this with countless other pieces of software...

I think ill try again to gather up folks for fight nights (or airquake, arcade matches, or whatever your preferred label is) after the patch. Moreso because it has a chance to succeed after the patch because so many people will not play until then, whether that is the case for me or not.

In the meantime, a random question: the 109 e3 does not have an automatic prop pitch like with the e4, correct?

Thanks!

You are correct. The E-3 does not automatic prop pitch. I don't see it as a handicap. The first thing I do when getting in an E-4 is set it to manual.

Yeah I rather like it to be manual as well, but wanted to make sure I wasn't confusing things.

One of the reasons I love the audio in-game (minus only gunfire) is that I can adjust it without actually looking at the rpm gauge very often. Which brings me to another question: ilm pretty much changing my prop pitch to keep it between 2200-2500 rpm unless I'm diving. Do you perhaps have a more foolproof way to adjust prop pitch or am I on the right track?

Edit: 2200-2500 for when I want power, and I cruise around 2k. I'm not sure if there are other factors to consider when changing prop piitch, specifically in combat.

Heh, I must admit, I am bombing mostly over water, ships, gotta start somewhere. I wasn't saying I was immune to it by the way. Just never happened since I used Memory Booster. Might be a fluke?
