![]() ![]() Joking aside - The P47 wasnt all that bad in a climb, sure the earlier models were which is why to evade the luftwaffe used to go into a steep climb, but as the later models came out (this game depicts a D) they had a fairly good rate of climb, and a superb roll rate. And above 30,000ft they were quite nimble ![]() though they were not the dogfighter - the P51 was around for that. This "jug" was good at ground attack, thats where she belongs ![]() its what i use her for. |

I unlocked it by giving the playstation store $9.99 The DLC came with the Jug, and a few more single play missions. I love the plane, but the lack of missions for it is a bummer. This game would be a gold mine if it had a simple mission editor. Anyways....... I think only pre-orders received the Jug for free. |

Yup what you're looking for is at the PS store! I'm debating if getting the P-47 and a few extra missions is worth $9.99 myself...

You know Ive never had a proper dogfight at 30,000 ft in this game, not even in training. I will have to try it sometime, the P47 could be the best plane at that hight in this game and only a few people would ever know it.

I don't call p51 a dogfighter, but enough about that... the p47 had vicious machine guns, but was the heaviest world war 2 fighter built by the US, its wing loading was over 50 lbs/square foot with a full tank, and its range was too short for it to be effective for US objectives which were mainly: send bombers long distances and protect them with escorts, and find tanks and blow them up. So they were glad to replace it with the p51 for those reasons. There were other American planes that were much better at dogfighting. Considering BOP is designed for low-altitude and short-range fights, with the average lifespan of a plane about 1 minute, it woulda been better to have the p-39 and p-40. They had weak engines but they were great fighters. The p-63 had a good engine and was a great fighter. I was just testing some planes against bombers in training, the 109k, 190 and la7, using both bnz and weave tactics. The german planes were better at the weave, though only the 190 could attack up and down without falling into the gunners cone. The la7 was immortal at bnz, and torn to ribbons at weaving. Its cannons aren't powerful enough to kill the plane before the gunner gets lucky. |
