With the new patch I havee sometime, most times, when I exit a mission with "esc" i find mysellf on the desktod but not out of the game because if I do enter with the numpad enter key I am back in the game and is I do a second time "esc" then I am in the exit screen of the end mission. Strange is it not?  Now a question how do you have the smoke efect in the SU26 I tried to find the key in the control menu or the button in the plane but nothing?
