This gives more chance for the prey to avoid the predator. And also, it give you reason to try and avoid gunfire. Normally when I have a better turning plane on my six, I just let him 'chew me up' (will try to turn a bit, but wont go rolling etc) if I cant see any other target. If it is limited ammo, I will jump and dance all around, hoping he will run out of ammo.
Why do you care about a streak?it wont give you anything... Do you think it is more fun to have a streak, then to actually have to dogfight to get your kills?
I prefer someone on my six running out of ammo and crashing to get new. Then to have a guy who starts shooting with his G-6 from 1.5 km, and keeps on shooting for 5mins. Even a monkey is bound to hit something if he does is like that (and 1 with form a 30mm can be more than enough) As long as ammo-less people crash when they have no bandit on their 6, its all fine by me.

Well when you put it like that it does sound quite cool. I guess I've been conditioned to care about kill/death ratio a bit too much. Plus, I'm that shooting monkey...
I might give it another go, and challenge myself to see how many kills I can get on one ammo load. But come on - limited fuel is bloody pointless... That really is like lighting a fuse on each and every plane. Maybe you could argue that you should choose a plane with a lot of fuel? Maybe the P51 might actually have a use after all lol
