May I ask a stupid question (or it seem so); What is the difference for a pilot in a single seater fighter to be in a battle with 50 planes and 128 planes? I shall partly answer this but try to find more answers; in a battle with 50 planes you have one on 50 chances to be a causality in a 128 aircrafts battle you have statistically less chances to be shoot down. It is why the "big wings" did less damage.
