What should i do, my main thought was to format my hard drive and do a fresh instal of windows and all the programmes because there maybe a virus on my system, dont know why my anti virsu did nto pic that up, but anyhow, does anyone have any ideas o what to do, i dont really wont to do a fresh instal because i loose all my programmes and settings, WHICH IS NOT GOOD!!!!!

btw i get an error code 0x80070571 if thats any help, im pretty sure this is a virsu as there is an empty folder sitting on my C: drive with nothing in it

You can clean drivers installation with DriverSweeper or DriverCleaner and then reinstall.

Nope. I don't use overclocking for my ATI 6950. It also happens on my laptop which is using Nvidia 540M so I guess it is not about graphic card.

There is a registry fix for that, just google for "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered"

I have this error often with CoD and ArmA II
I tired that register editing and sill no go. It is not working.

Well, since the last alpha/beta I also got the black screen with small red rectangle at startup that disappears after a while and then I get the Ubisoft logo. Everything works just fine in game etc. I thought it was some new 1C splash screen etc that had been missed in the latest build?

Anyway - no problems in game otherwise and the mini fix did not change it...

Running a 580GTX with the latest GeForce 301.24 Driver BETA

EDIT: Vote for the black screen with red rectangle at startup in the bugtracker:

ive got mine working lads:

like everyone i was getting black squares where map & planes should of been, then game would crash if i tried to start mission.....

First i added this to registry:

Start - Run
regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\GraphicsDrivers
Edit - New - DWord
Name = TdrDelay
Value Data = 12

then;

I Got rid of the opening ubisoft splash screen

In your Steam folder, go to "SteamApps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\parts\core\GUI". Rename "Logo.wmv" to any random name and it wont appear anymore

Good luck, i hope it works for you all having this problem.

If you run regedit then navigate to that folder. Then click edit > new > Dword (32 bit) Value. That will a new entry rename it to TdrDelay double click on it and change the number to 12. close regedit, job done.

More explanation of what it does has been put on this thread by someone:

I didnt come up with this it is from the techincal threads post by luther last year so i think it should be fine:

Nice! It does work for me! I use 64bit OS but I guess I have to use DWord because the game is based on 32bit. Anyway it works now. Thanks!
