Ahh...that was some fun again today. I had the chance to test Hs129 online finally. Its was a late war setting on both maps I have flown, so I was a bit obsolete compared to any other plane around. However, I tried my best and killed a few trucks and trains near the Balaton, before I tried to chase two passing Il-2 (bad idea). They chased me back and I got downed near my own base, exploding from 23mm cannons hitting any critical point.
Next was something special, Murmansk map (known for its size and high navigational requirement) without any sign on the maps, where the airports are (radio beacons would have been good here). I found a collumn of US vehicles, destroying almost all with one drop of my two AB50 bombslets. Tried to do the remaining with guns, but got suddenly peppered by a Spitfire. Left engine caught instantly fire, I killed it by the extinguisher, but after a few seconds the engine stopped. So I set to sailing pitch and tried to get my plane stable on a course home, while the Spit made another pass, destroying various equipment in my cockpit and hitting even more holes in my already weak left wing. I had no change of evading or fighting back. So Iwas more of glad, that the Spit just flew by, waving its wings on its third pass. I miracously managed to climb a few meters, kicking all available out of my remaining engine, so I could pass the hills and forrest, that were between me and the friendly side.
I eventually reached own territory, but couldn't find my airfield. Requests to own pilots, where it might be, kept unanswered.
So I really flew for another 15minutes, searching. BTW, it was possible to get up to 500m with only one engine in Hs129, still one needs to be carefull.
It could have been maybe more, if I hadn't had bad luck to run into two sweeping Tempests, which didn't hesitate. One pass of each and my other engine was crippelt too.
So I just could put my nose down and ditch on the next field, where the badly hurt left wing broke on touchdown. But I came out unhurt.
Looking back, I was surprised by the roughness of this plane and the fairplay from the Spitfire (the Tempests doesn't count, as they probably didn't see my damage).

Next fly was in a B-3, as I had seen a columns of Sherman on the way back and I sneaked into enemy territory underneath patroling fighters, reached my target and managed to kill 6 Shermans in a few approaches, then my gun was empty. Also a Spitfire had just passed near me, but obviously haven't seen me.
So I decided, its better to head home and I again manged to sneak through the patrol lines. Unfortunately I accidentially cut off both my engines while fiddeling around with the radiators. I did give it a try but I was so damn low, that it was no chance and I had to ditch on a road on already friendly territory.

It was quite some fun, even if I never managed to get back to base. But I definitly had a good feeling, as I came back from fighting unhurt.

P.S.: Radio beacons there would be really good, Gryphon!

The 410 patch has been very popular and we are all working hard to keep a supply of new maps coming. All maps have missions to accomplish as a team, they aren't just a dogfight, so please read the brief as it's much more fun if you know what's going on.

Please also be tolerant of the many new players we are seeing since 410 came out - it will take a week or two for them to learn the rules, and we are 'helping' them with that. More info at the forums (link below).

Gryphon thank you to you and your team for making this server awesome!

Are there more early war or exotic theater maps coming? Last night I was flying on a 1942 desert map and it was amazing! It's so much fun for me flying in the not so common, late war planes that every other server has dime a dozen. I really like maps that make use of rare planes or countries.

Also any chance of throwing a few Zeke vs. Wildcat missions on this server? I loved that server as well a few years ago. IL2 has so many planes lets use them all to keep everything fresh. Thank you so much for your work!

I love Spits VS 109s. I've been flying it for years. Full real settings great maps and one other thing, no one every seems to complain about about the aeroplanes witch is fantastic. Everyone just flys and has fun. In my opinion it's the best server on the hyperlobby and people seem to get along who fly it. I guess people complain and sometimes, I do once and a while..I always want more North Africa maps... but it's all done in a civil way in the forums.

While i also like to fly on Spit vs 109, i do believe that the server hosts too much med to late war scenarios.

I prefer Escuadron 69 server, very good ping, all realistic.
The bad thing is that hardly ever there's some people

That would be nice, but you do know how big the gaps are in aircraft, to make half ways realistic maps? I will just mention there are absolutely no flyable IJA bombers and only two IJN Bombers available of which both are early versions.
Pearl Harbour map without flyable Kates? Just using Vals to sink battleships is calling for people with extrem patiance.....

Absolutely agree on that, early war maps do not seem to be popular.
