Default Have 1C:Maddox made development kits available to third party devs yet?

I just remember that the hope for CloD was that Development Kits (as-well as the SDK's (is it the same thing?)) were going to be made available for outside Developer's to create game content, new aircraft, missions, terrain, etc, etc.

I'm just wondering if this has already happened or is likely to happen?

I'm just thinking of add-ons (like the A2A series) that could be made for the CloD game/sim for those of us interested in the 8th Air force (not everyone I realise) but it may speed up the transition through the WW2 timeline as the next release is BoM?

Just wondering if this has happened yet or is there/has there been any news on it?

Cheers, MP

Hi. Luthier already mentioned the Maps-SDK, but the map size will be limited, keep to themselves the huge maps. I doubt, they give up the exclusive right of making aircrafts (aircraft SDK). And that's good! The homemade aircraft, and especially homemade FM has no place in this game. If one of the major studios (such as A2A) want to make airplanes, they may agree with the company. The Russian maps made by an external team, for example. But the point is to keep to themselves the monitoring of the quality and accuracy!

I can imagine the 3D models and animations SDK, which will be finalized in 1C. Maybe it could work.

It will be available but not soon. Their priorities shifted due to patch issues.

SDK and especially its documentation would require several weeks/months of work of the same developers who are fixing the engine now.

As already mentioned, an external team is developing the russian maps for Battle of Moscow, therefore they must have the map making SDK which was video showcased some time ago.
As for aircraft making SDK - I don't believe there is such a thing that exists. What would it be? A 3ds max Script or Plug-in? It doesn't nessacarily matter because you can already convert CoD meshes from binary to text, getting that text to work like the previous IL-2 - unsure. But if there is no sort of "mod activator" released officially, there will be definitely be a hacked version.

There were some videos of an early map-making SDK released 4 years ago, but little information since apart from the snippets below.

Quote from Luthier's 30 Aug 2011 update
<snip> "Following that, we have other things in the works. We are finally ready to start knocking out SDKs, with the map making SDK being the first one you’ll see – quite soon, too! We’ll release more details on that, and on the plane-making SDK, after the upcoming beta patch is fully tested and goes live." <snip> See http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=25747

Quote from Luthier's 18 Oct 2011 update
v1.05.15950 is now live! What to expect next.
<snip>5. SDK. As promised earlier, still planning to release a map-making SDK in the near future. More details will be released when we are ready for them.

There has been a group working on the Battle for Moscow, even before COD was released. That said I doubt any development kits have been sent out as the main game engine is still in flux. The performance/graphic patch is a major alteration to the game engine, so once that is finalized the developer may be able to start thinking of producing a developers kit.

Or not. It's all speculation by now. When Luthier stated in 09/2011 that they release the SDK soon and we've seen zilch since then, I wouldn't count on it anyway.

Luthier was talking about releasing an SDK, before they realized that code optimizations weren't getting the job done, and they were having to do a complete rewrite of the graphics code to get the performance they required. The whole idea from the start was too supply an SDK, and map making tools, etc to third parties and community modders. I doubt this business model has been altered, but it certainly has been delayed, by the critical performance/graphics patch.

I would like to see an SDK like this
http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/BI_Tools_2

Oxygen 2 Personal Edition for Arma II - model editing and animation package
Visitor 3 Personal Edition for Arma II - terrain and map editing
TexView 2 - texture convertor and viewer
BinPBO Personal Edition - packer
Sound Tools - sound and lipsync utilities
FSM Editor - tool to edit and compile fsms used in Arma 2
BinMake - conversion tool
Tools Drive - main working directory for tools with mandatory data files

but i dont see any SDK soon , game first toys later
