Default Flight ability confirmation given by the game

Is there any possibility that SOW could actually train the new pilot in the first place,

(before he/she embarks on one of the game's campaign)

where it (SOW) would actually provide a Certificate with the user's name on and in a maner

that canot be faked, providing proof that the person is ready to join a squad without

draging everyone else back while he/she learns how to take off ....

here are some Documents i have re-created ....

Great idea, opens up the scenario where unless you are qualified, i.e. have passed your tests, the game won't let you play, lol!

A nice idea, but I'd think it would be difficult to make it foolproof - it isn't hard to identify a particular PC, but how would the game be able to tell who was on it? Still, if everyone has an online server password and unique name, this would help.

I'd have thought that if a squad wasn't sure about someone's flying ability, a quick online test flight or two with just the noob and a squad member would soon show any problems.

Thumbs down

Personally I don't think a flight sim developer should waste time on something that only a fraction of his potential customers would actually use. I vividly remember my hate for the pointless and badly executed flight training stuff in Eurofighter 2000 (which you could not skip BTW). I felt that was an utter waste of time and nerves on my part and I severely hope Maddox Games doesn't make the mistake of forcing the user to jump through such hoops. Training missions or campaigns must remain optional ...

Exactly what i would like to Avoid.

The only thing that i would like to test, would be the player's charachter not his skills, his skills must be proved through a system that holds high standards - so i would never have to turn a player down and make me look like a bad person that disdains inexpirience ....

far fetched you think?

Well, the real problem is that most pilots have learned how to fly while being in a squad.

I still remember how I was trying to fly offline with... keyboard, until my first squad (335thGR) and my great teammate (Darkkon) gave me some real lessons and the rest is history.

The same applies to many-many people in the community. So, in my opinion, this idea is not for the good of the game and the community. "Pilots" must be trained in a squad and not by offline procedures only.

Nevertheless, nice work you've done Gaga!

I still think that it's a seriously good idea for some kind of "official" offline training. I would love to do some proper flight training in a Tiger moth, for example, learning how to trim an aeroplane properly and how to fly straight and level and on course. You might think this funny, but ask yourself do you know how to (by the book) and can you do it? (How many people use the rudder when they fly?). The RAF even today pick their fighter pilots on their ability to fly straight and level. If the cadet can't do it very well after a few hours training they move on to larger aircraft or a non flying career.
It was very frustrating in IL2, in the middle of a campaign, to find yourself in a completely different aircraft on the next mission without knowing much about the new one, having no idea about it's engine management, prop pitch or whatever, with no convertion period to familiarise yourself with it.
How many 109 fliers know how to fly a Me109 fast, and how to use manual prop pitch properly (including me here!) on the early ones? Very few, from watching posted ntrk's . Some instruction on "official" contemporary methods of engagement would also be great. The luftwaffe tactic of flying above and attacking the target in a fighter from out of the sun isn't often found in IL2 in offline missions, if ever.
If the aim is to get us all flying in a historically correct way, then some correct basic training surely isn't a bad thing. There could be an option to press "escape" to skip it if you done it already, but it'd be fun to pick something you've never flown before and be taught properly how to fly it, without spending months sometimes! trying to find out how you're supposed to do it.

A part of public gaming is to accept idiots no matter how, when , where.. if you by no means want experience runied you simply fly with a trusted community, a clan, trusted friends , on lan etc.

Clan matches or events, but like Andy said i don't belive in restraining or forcing people.. it is still after all a game and just like in real life there will be pros, casuals, noobs and idiots.

Simply a part of life.
