WW2 Bomb explosion
Tonight in central Munich an American bomb from ww2 was brought to explosion after disarming has failed.
Video of explosion is in the following link. Interesting points: The short dry sound and the time delay. http://vimeo.com/48399328 EDIT: For interested parties: It was a 250 kg bomb with delayed delay fuse conceived to explode several hours after impact in order to interrupt the work of firefighters and rescue workers. Their fuse was constructed in a way to prevent disarming it. EDITED IN ORDER TO NOT OFFEND ANY FUSE. |

Poor:wink: Germany but; Total U.S. bomb tonnage dropped during: World War II = 2,057,244 tons Vietnam War = 7,078,032 tons (3-1/2 times WWII tonnage) War is hell. In Belgium and North of France every an each year tons of ammunition of the first invasion (1914-1918.) of Belgium by Germany are still found live and dangerous sometimes with chemicals and of both sides. From time to time in large quantities. |

Ironically, on the same day another unexploded ordnance was found - in Warsaw, on construction site of a metro line. This was a "bit" bigger example however - 600 mm shell from "Karl" mortar (don't know whether it was the 2-ton or 1,7-ton one). Fortunately we didn't have to do similar fireworks show in the middle of our city! Bomb disposal guys managed to get it out of here.
Cheers. |
Glad to hear that this thing could be removed without harm or damages.
I guess they dig up several of them everyday all over Europe ... |

Uhm, I applied this to a thing, not a human being. I hope the fuse does not feel offended ...
