YS flight sim
5 Attachment(s)
Anyone played this.
Its a free flight simulator. Very basic graphics but solid physics and a wide selection on aircraft. http://homepage3.nifty.com/ysflight/...hor/e2009.html |

For better aircraft, there's quite a few user-created plane sets, missions and maps. One of them is called Task Force 58, includes about 20 different f-18's and a zillion mig-21's. some others, I can't remember what they're called. I've got 3 versions of su-37, and an f-35 and a yak-38, where the vtol works. There's no ovt on the 37 unfortunately. YS released a new version this year with vastly improved AI, and better flight recording features. The best free flight sim I've ever seen is called Targetware. It's not finished, and hardly anyone ever plays online, but it's way realistic. Decent graphics too. |
you got a link for targetware? (i know i could google it but i'm lazy and need to cook dinner)
|
http://www.targetware.net
you will need Java Runtime enabled to use the installer, since they're a little proprietary about it, it's considered a commercial game in beta, though it's had that status for years Once you're up to speed, let me know and we'll have a battle in target tobruk "war in the desert" scenario. |
sounds good

Anyone try Target Tobruk? I might dl it if it's free to play.
|
yes, of course it's free... the other modules are richthofen's skies, war over poland, target rabaul, and the original target korea.
|
I cant download any of the mods for http://www.targetware.net one.. it downloads it and then says it cant unzip it.. what do i do?
|
I vaguely remember it gave me a big headache at first... you're supposed to make an account (free) and then when you dl the engine, you go to the mod page and it downloads the modules.
That is, dl the engine, make an account, start the engine, type in your name and pass, and then you dl the mods from within the engine. They do it like that cause they plan to sell it one day, if they ever finish it. Did you get the right installer, there's windows, mac and linux. The windows installer is a self-extractor I think... I use linux so I'm not sure |

Try taking off in a fully-loaded f9 |

from main menu, /settings/joysticks
it should list every device your pc recognizes. If you can't get the TM to work, try your console controller |

And you picked "start flight" from the left menu when the scenario started, right? Otherwise it would just show a nice rotatable picture of a plane.
Look on the Wiki, I guess... that's where the troubleshooting info is |

I will, thanks.. |

You might need to reverse the throttle axis, too. I used the right stick of my sixaxis for throttle, and every time I pushed up, it went to idle speed. Then for a while I had the rudder and throttle on the same axis, but I couldn't figure out why I couldn't maintain altitude without losing control of the plane |

However Rabaul is probably the finest of them all, it's just not much fun if there's not a lot of players. Too much flak, too far to fly. I use Tobruk for practice cause there's flakless targets and fast planes |

here is what Target Tobruk "war in the desert" scenario looks like when you get it working:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xbm...mp4_videogames I am trying to get my PS Eye to work on my pc to make IL-2 video, so I tested it by recording a video of Targetware from my ps3. If I can fix the damn flicker problem I think it'll work. This one may play a bit slow though, I didn't compress it and unfortunately You Tube would not accept it since it went over 10 minutes. So I had to use dailymotion... if it plays slow, it might be easier to just rip the video and skip to the combat part (I just checked and it looks like dailymotion's ads kill the framerate) |
Looks good, pitty my PS3 controller dont work eather.. That and on the game (after logging in) It still wont un ZIP the mod.. Tried manually downloading it and Turbok files are incomplete... Damn game....
