I've met some good players online but I want to know, who do YOU respect the most, not on leaderboards but from personal experience online? Who's your most feared pilot? Who shreds Spitfires and mashes Messerschmitts?

The 'respect list' is long ;). There are many good players online, who fly with decency and honour.

To be honest, there is no one I've come up against of whom I now think 'shit, this guy will shoot the cr@p out of me'. But if I would have to say wich one I wouldnt like on my tail, I take FOZ (he always seems to kill with 1 shot :)).

I know I can only pick one, but just give credit, soulsurfer, cyclone, dave and robotic pope are one of the better ones out there I think.

Now that I think about, the guy I would be most carefull with, if he was my opponent, would be my wingman Ancient seraph.

Technically, I'd have to say Edal86, although I haven't actually flown against him very often. Honourable mentions go to XXSilenceXX and a couple of others on my friends list who's names escape me at the moment... I think they are regulars on here for the most part

And of course, all the guys in VAS ;)


Wouldn't it be cool to arrange a "best of" match, PS3 vs 360.... I wonder who would win...............

Generally people I play against enough to know their skill level I would have to say tipoch86, but as it is with most people it just depends on their skill that day, one day it can be him rape me, or other way round. But in any case, my vote goes for tipoch86.

If Mirgervin is the best in an La5, what would he be like in a Spit?!? I mean, personally I can't hit a damn thing in the La5 cos I find the armament pants.

I'm gonna say Chanky - definitely not overly pleased when I see him on the opposing team!

It was always Pedro in his La7 for me although he was getting some good fights from some of the other early regulars (none of which were me).

The top two guys in arcade team battle at the moment on the 360.

I've flown against both of them and unlike my usual easy kill prey, I really have to fly hard..... then again, so do they.

Needless to say, the full vocabulary of dogfight aerobatics, all of which are impossible to perform in realsitic or simulator until the patch comes out, are explored to the full.

Such matches usually end in no kills for either of us and a few crashes.

Out of the two, Erzon Jager (Germany) is probally the best pilot I've flown against, as he seems to knows all the classic dogfight moves and traps.

Managing to shoot down Erzon Jager is a hard won achievement for anyone.

There are a few good pilots from BSP that would do well on BOP, if they would only buy the game.

This one's easy.

even though we both refuse to play the game again until we see the light of the patch... Deadpreacherr was my arch nemesis. He could shoot my Goat ass out of the sky by blinking his eye.

ChankyChank would be a close second.

i have it pretty much tied up between edal86 and xxxsilencexxx, givin a edje to edal cause he flies in the worst planes imaginable imo, and still kicks asses.

what does suck tho is these guys are pretty much the only ones i seem to run into online, in 1 vs 1 battles on top of that cause there's hardly any1 else around. Its great cause these are nice fellows and gives me some well needed practice, but it must feel like a turkey shoot for them (well it does for me where im playin the role of the turkey).

But i feel like im gettin there slowly, managed a few kills in the last few games, compared to when i couldnt even see the enemy when i started playin the game a few weeks ago...

If its CTA then tudorp is a swine for getting you on the ground, he's mastered it!! In a dogfight, the few games i've had its close between Morgoth and seraph, they work well together so you can't really compliment one more than the other, its gauranteed if your chasing one you have to make your shots count because if you take to long then your in a world of hurt because his wingman will pick you up!!

Without wishing to sound harsh on anyone though -

i've come across alot of "good players" in arcade who can beat me hands down, they know arcade very well and can get me everytime practically, truth is i just cant do it! But get them in realistic or sim then its a whole different ball game, they struggle and make easy prey. They seem to have a game then go back to arcade, like they are scared to keep trying it out on realistic/sim. I have no time for these really, its not very skillful down their.

A good wingman for me is robotic pope also, not sure why exactly but we seem to know how each other flies so can help one another when needed, and when theirs a big furball gonig on in sim mode, you seem to "know" like instinct or somethnig which plane is pope, or he'll know which is me. We work well together, but when against each other.... its trouble because we just go round in circles lol.

Edal86 for sure. SubaruGaz was pretty good when I played with him, granted I had just gotten the game. He kicked my ass like 9-0 or something around there :evil: Haven't played with him for a while though.

I have to second Mirgirvin, great in the LAs and hes destroyed me in Spits. Also believe it or not he plays with a gamepad!

Yeah, haven't been on BOP in a while. but dont worry i will be back in the skys quite soon, so dont hesitate to ask me to fly if you see me online ;)

Best pilots ive flown with have got to be Edal86, i respect him a great deal as he know exactly what he is doing all of the time, what makes this guy so special is as soon as you make one wrong move however little it may be hes gonna be on your ass.

xX-SiLeNCE-Xx also a very respectful pilot and have had quite afew moments where he is stuck on my tail.

But without adding everyones name on the list, i will say that everyone who ive flown against are definately Great sports!

I would really like to play some of you Xbox people, now that the xbox 360 is only $200, it may be a possibility for christmas lol. Dont know much about xbox though. I have to pay $50 a year to play online?

Something like that, yes. If you buy a year's worth of Live that is. You can also buy Live for smaller periods of time, but it gets more expensive per day (i.e. it's cheaper to buy 1 year instead of 4x3 months).

When the game was at its most popular online, I believe none where near Pedro's ability in a dogfight. Just look at the ranked Sim leaderboards. Now I see plenty of people racking up the kills using La5's and 7's in realistic, but I'm far more impressed when I see someone using one of the weaker planes and doing quite well.

Apart from pure flying skill, I would say Star Foz83 is the best communicator of all the players I have come across, which can really boost the team performance. Also, House always specialised in bombers so he became one of the best at bombing in Sim Strike. And I think Tudorp15 is one of the best at landing and capturing in sim CTA games, he always seems to time it just right while the enemy is distracted or respawning.

Whats the deal guys, I dont see my name on here yet...cmon Pope wasnt that some good flying with you last night? Lol, but when I see Espada online he is a really good pilot to have on my side...As I see a few people have mentioned Mirgervin is a bat out of hell as well. He seems to shoot me down fast, then when I get some shots on him he flies off in that wounded la7(still smoking my plane in top end speed might I add) and crash lands...all that chasing for naught...dammit no kill.

lol Sorry dude. I don't think Ive played you in Sim mode though, that is a must for me to gauge a pilots skill. I can tell you that you are indeed the best at NUCLEAR OVERKILL with the B-17 in realistic CTA. Those poor little fighters trying to take the airstrip never stood a chance. Neither did I on a couple of ocasions, BOOOOOOOM ;)

XBOX 360 guys, I will be joining your skies for a week starting today probably. A friend of mine allowed me to borrow his XBOX 360, I will rent Il2 BOP for a week. So hopefully I can get a perspective from both PS3 and XBOX 360 skills. :) I will need time to get used to xbox controller, I have never played xbox :S

Its pilots like you i REALLY hate...seriously.

No matter who you are, their is ALWAYS a pilot better then you...even if your the best pilot in the world, their is always one better then you. So i cant vote.

While you guys all love your sim and realistic modes, Im still an Arcade mode player. Im not wanting to toot my own horn here, but almost every game Ive played for a while now, I am the top ace. A couple of games I have played I got ganged up on big time in dogfights, but I still end up with the top score in my trusty Spitfire. That is unless everyone else is in an I-153, and Im not (but thats not going to happen ;) )

So in the end up I cant say who's the best I have met online, since I dont play the harder modes and do a bit to well in arcade. But if one of you chaps would sometime like to try your hand against me in a fair match up your more than welcome to try :D

WOW, it appears like the XBOX has a lot of competitive players , I cant wait to fly amongst you guys. I am a fair player, and seek fair and good games, I dont engage in insults. I hope I get a good welcome lol, if it means that my but gets kicked around. :)

That Ace of Aces Championship sounds like a good idea and also a good way of eliminating any doubts from the votes (also a good conclusion for this thread's topic) of who is the best or most feared pilot out there. Hopefully, I can keep the borrowed XBOX 360 long enough so that I can participate on both, PS3 and XBOX, tournaments (if you guys decide to do it).

I got the joke, I just mean i hate pilots, or anyone for that matter who say it for serious. I met an old friend from the HAWX days on Operation LFashpoint, he thought he was the best soldier since...anyone. And he only played CO-OP (against AI)

This may be true but in my experience versus me you are the better shot for those instant kills. Edal owns me as well but can't seem to finish me off quite as quick as you (not that it takes very long...)

Best pilot I met is probably Edal86, but my highest respect goes to InfiniteStates who basically taught me everything and is a great wingman. Won many games thanks to him.

I know it's a bit ot but also NephilimUK and Silvernige are great pilots (and made me feel really welcome when I first got online ^_^°)

ive had this game since it came out and the 1 person i keep seeing is ben griffiths in his me 163 he doesnt just boom and zoom he actually stays on the tail of even spitfires which surprised me

Anyway thanks for the mentions guys, and I would agree that Pudgy is a real expert on realistic.

There's lots of great virtual pilots, edal86 and xxsilencexx are best so far and maniovka is good too, then there are dinho28 and others. 5 min without getting shot down with these guys are almost impossible.

You are quite good yourself when I have been able to play with you.

I must say that from xbox cranky chank, seems to own the skies. I have not played against the other big names though.

On the PS3 I may be one of the best but Xbox I am being dominated by their top aces. (is my second day though trying on xbox). Its not that I find Xbox players more challenging than PS3, you xbox people will notice this if you try playing against us on the PS3. Example: I stall and spin out lol on xbox. The control layout is really costing me because of the big difference that I got used to with PS3 aviator layout.

Too bad I could not give you my best, but I will keep trying for the next 2 weeks XBOX people.

Leaderboards haven't really changed last weeks as far as I know. Not that big of an achievement to get high in the ranks.

Yeah i noticed this happenig with you alot, and when i shot you alot, i also noticed you would crash :evil: i got really angry lol. I knwo your a good pilot though and its not your fault, your just adjusting etc so wont hold it against you. Did cost mer a few kills on you though ;) lol.

But.......


After tonight it just got to much and i admit i got slightly wound up, so unfortunately im calling it a day with this game as of tonight i think. I was really hoping tonight would be a great nights flying, but it just didnt happen.

Until a patch is seen then i'm through with this game, which hurts more because i know i'll enjoy MW2 to much and will just forget this game and stick to where the numbers are.

I enjoyed it for a brief time.

The leaderboards are only for ranked matches, we were playing unranked "player" matches. No one plays ranked matches in sim...literally no one. Good flying with you hope to see you again

I'm still going to check the forum as always so i'll still be one here :D annoying everyone no doubt lol, im just effectively "grounded" until a patch is released.

if numbers stay as they are or increase then i'll come back, if numbers stay in decline then i'll trade in while i still get a good price.

this is the best forum i've been part of, its a great crowd and everyone gets along. I just really hope the publishers aren't bullshitting us about the patch lol.

Trust me, if you see me crashing I dont do it on purpose, that is why created a dogfight challenge on PS3 on STRIKE using only fighter planes. So that all crashes count. I am absolutely against people that crash as soon as they see their plane damaged or those who are injured and kill someone and crash to get a new plane.

I dont care about ranks or kills on PS3 either, I play to have fun that is why I mainly use FW 190, MC 202, or Hurricane. Other planes (spits, yaks, La7) are just too perfect for me. Any of this you can ask the PS3 guys that have played against me.

Yes edal doesn't crash on purpose. I can't stand when he gets in the fw190 that plane sucks but he is able to dominate in it.

Agreed, first time i saw edal in that thing i was like "Does he want to lose?" and then low and behold he swings the thing round and sticks me face first into the dirt.

But i did eventually manage to figure out a way to shoot him down ;)

And just like trk said, Edal has never from what i have seen crashed intentionally

On the intentional crashing thing, it really is my belief that there are very few left (in sim or realistic at least) that do it on purpose. Sure, during a match when things get hot and heavy it's very easy to accuse someone of doing it particularly when you've spent the better part of 3 minutes or so trying to take them down (I've been guilty of yelling "crasher!" a time or two) , but when I think about it I know there have been several occasions when I've augured in after having my control surfaces shot to hell and it probably appeared it was intentional.

I remember becoming a lawn dart thinking to myself "Sorry, sorry, sorry. I'm trying to hold it up!" more than a couple of times.

Sorry, I can't suggest a "best" player. I know there's a lot of names when I think "oh no", but I can't remember them (my memory is not exactly enhanced when I play, if you know what I mean).

So far edal has been the toughest to beat 1 on 1 cause he hardly ever makes mistakes. I managed to down his fw190 with yak-3 but only barely, 2 deaths to 1. I had endless trouble with his mc202 because of its turn radius, finally I figured out how to beat it though it still takes maximum effort and only with a faster/better climbing plane.

Other than edal the toughest opponent I've met in kills-only scoring is maninovka, and the best shot I've seen is Cosmo79 who I don't think has posted on this forum. Dinho also has a vicious attack. I've sent links to the tournament thread to several people but not all will be able to read it unfortunately.

<> about the ps3 scoring system, if you notice some people have 3 times as many kills as someone ranked higher up, so at least it's not just about the kills. One time I played an even match against a lower-ranked opponent, and I checked the board and my rank had instantly dropped 3 places.
I think the accuracy rating may have something to do with it too. Maybe the devs are just sitting there watching people play, and then adjusting their rank.

I'm pretty sure its down to accuracy... I'm second on the Team Battle board (or was last time i checked) and I have far less kills, and less matches, then the people below me. I do have a higher accuracy though (Don't know how, because I can't hit the broadside of a barn!)

Well I have had a lot if fun on this game over the last few weeks. Maiinly in arcade mode on PS3
Met a lot of great players, winny1973, zeroptimis, shinigamidragoon to name a few. I think I played Pedro once or twice. I think best player was ratman911. Great host and a good guy to play with

All u guys playing arcade and realistic should really come up to sim; I'm pretty sure there are some great pilots "hiding" in there somewhere (jk :) ).

I kno sim looks like a b*** when trying to look around having to find targets, but trust me it aint that hard, when u get use to using the map alot and can fly ur plane while looking elswhere, its much more fun (imo) and brings the game to a whole new level in terms of control and strategy (especially stratwise: no way to hide with the target view in realistic). You'll get shot down alot at first but pretty much every guy im playin against in sim are very supportive and will provide different tips and advices so you get the hang of it faster.

Any of u guys want to add me i'll be glad to give you "practice runs" - not like im as good as edal by any stretch of the imagination - but i think i can give any sim newcomer some helpfull advices and pratice different manoeuvers.

I would "move up" to realistic and sim if I had a stick but im stuck with the 360 controller and the subtle movements required for competent flying just are not possible for me.

However I am seriously considering the new PC game version (WoP) since I already have everything I require for it. So expect to see me at some point come screaming out the clouds, pounding some lead in to the opposition. :grin:

I'm an Arcade type who's currently practising with Sim mode..

There are quite a few very good pilots who play arcade, dkwookie is probably one of the best I've seen (It's great when we fly together)

I'll be around on PSN and will gladly join anyones sim games.. Even if I'm still struggling to actually see the other aircraft..

After the arse kicking he gave me last night in his LA-7. I've got to give special mention to Maninovka..... well played sir.
I'll be putting in more practice hours in the LA's I think, so maybe next time it will be a better fight.

I use a controller and used to think the same, only going realistic. But if you stick :grin::grin: with it it will become more natural. Looking around by pressing the right analogue is a pain as it's too easy to slam the rudder sideways or cut throttle by mistake, but is essential to do if you don't want to get cut down in Sim.

I look vertically up and over the canopy most of the time to try and keep a view on people which is not the best thing but using a controller it means I don't cut the throttle or unintentionally slam the rudder left or right whilst looking around.

I like the 'feel' of sim mode. The main reason I'm not as active in sim mode online is that I'm using a Hotas stick (simply can't fly with a pad!) and I can't check my six with the hat, online this is a big disadvantage. I also tend to use the cockpit view because I need reference points, and the hat look around causes screen tear wich makes it even harder for me to see targets.

Once the update's released I'll definately be simming it a lot more.

Oh.. and what is the difference between Realistic and Sim? (Other than the targeting system) ta.

The main difference is that you can use flaps and trim in sim mode. I think the flight and damage models are the same as realistic though. (You also get engine overheats in Sim, although I think that can happen in realistic?)

Sim feels a LOT different to realistic for me. Lining up shots is harder as the plane has a greater pendulum effect when you adjust the rudder. You can see/feel the weight of the plane swaying left to right more. I assume this is carried through to a greater recoil effect too.

Gotta remember to set flaps to combat too before getting into turn fights, and set them straight to chase someone.

It's very satisfying to be on someone's six and they don't have a clue you are there and then shred them :-P:evil::-P Can't do that in realistic...

Got my a@# handed to me last night by Maninovka in sim. I was in the La-5 he was flying a Spit 9. New to online but reading post about crediting kills. Tried my best to keep flying when badly damaged so he would get credit...seemed to work. Hell, I don`t know if I even hit him LOL. One thing about online, it`s harder to hear the hits your taking. Great match though...<S>!

Also, no headset yet so I couldn`t congratulate him

What does anyone think about bailing? I used to do it quite a lot figuring why should I hobble around in a shot up plane cos the other guy can't finish the job...

honestly you dont have to go out of your ways to try n keep a badly damaged plane in the air: I mean as long as you dont hit the dirt intentionnaly as soon as u see an enemy on ur six, when ur in a bad position or when you're slightly hit, you should b ok. Its the game that is to blame for not crediting kills properly. If u fell u may have crashed a bit too much in a match, just send a little psn msg to the guy afterwards. Most ppl here are very supportive and wont even have taken any offense to it... like I said it is the game that is to blame for the bad scoring system and ppl are aware of how hard its is to fly with no elevator for example... and that a bullet riddled plane naturally tends to go down (duh:!: lol).

Seriously i'm such a bad shot that probably 90% of my kills are not registred. I def cant blame the other guys for crashing nor can I blame the game for not scoring them as kills: i usually end up nibbling on their tails and wings until im out of amo and they cant keep it up. So basically the only thing wrong here are my shooting skills...

And about not being able to see enemies; use aviator layout, fly low (very low, i mean insanely low, u'll b harder to spot and it'll b easier to spot the guy if you're under him) and use the map alot. Watch ur speed, use the flaps, a little rudder work here and there for better turns... It gets alot easier once you get the hang of it. Just keep practicing.

If you damage your enemy's wing and it crashes 2 minutes later, you shot the enemy down. It would qualify as a kill if confirmed, in real life. Simulation mode should consider it a kill. In a heated battle, it's better to deal enough damage to an enemy plane to keep it from fighting effectively, then fight the undamaged enemies.

The Luftwaffe credited 1 kill to each pilot who took part in downing a plane, one reason why they have so many kills... in the RAF and USAAF there was a decimal points system when more than one pilot contributed to a kill.

Flying low will solve your spotting problems, if the enemy is in the air, but try to spot from the air if you can, first. Altitude really is an advantage, if you can see the opponent.

I dont really mind ppl bailing...unless they always do it as soon as i get on their 6 with undamaged planes.

Some ppl seem to get frustrated when a kill isnt registred or when the enemy take his plane down because of extensive damage: the way I see it, an enemy crash is a point for me, nomatter how the game scores it (like the rules in edal tourney). So if the guy scored 3 kills on me but crashed 6 times while i only shot him twice and crashed 4 times: I view it as a win, even tho the endgame msg says mission failed.
