I enabled the logging feature (turn off the Steam Cloud and enable log in conf.ini). An unhandled exception is shown in the logfile, unfortunatelly it does not help since it does not give a clue where the problem might be (code is obfuscated).

I also turned THreaded Optimisation to -ON, but left everything else. Not sure if that did much, but I can fly over water OK. :)
That's all I got sorry.

I tried uninstalling sound drivers and disabling the sound card in bios, and also doing those video card settings.
Neither worked for me. :\

Bump! Anyone got a fix or ideas for this yet?

Sobric 04-04-2011 07:36 PM

Although I've not solved it at all - I did notice when fiddling with config's that I didn't seem to have all the info that other who can start the game do... specifically config info on screen resolution and D3D render:

I did not have the bolded lines in either config file (the Steam or 1c folder). It's not solved the issue, but perhaps indicates what's going wrong?

[window]
DepthBits =24
StencilBits=8
DrawIfNotFocused=0
SaveAspect=0
Render=D3D10_0
width=1440
height=900
ColourBits=32
FullScreen=1
ChangeScreenRes=1

Guys, please report the problem to ubi support. Maybe someone will notice there is a problem...

Hmm, unfortunatley, Mine already has them. Reported to Ubi support. =)

I got the response from ubi support...standard troubleshooting steps...disable all startup apps, update drivers, clear temp files. No luck.

Bah!! Typical. Any idea when the next update might be out? Might be our only chance at this rate

I got the STEAM download version and it runs smoothly without any CTDs (I had one but that was user error). Could it be that the game doesn't like to be installed in the C:\Program Files folder structure? I have my steam somewhere else ... and no issues.
