Hi there.

I also have an Athlon CPU.
Athlon 64 3700+ to be exact.

I also found the new .dll files did not work, so I used the ones posted by you, scThor, thanks for that.

What did you do to the .dll files to get them functioning properly btw?

Here is my experience thus far with what is most likely a lower end system now....

Intel P4 2.53Ghz 533fsb
Intel MB D845PESV
PNY PC2700 DDR 1Gb
MSI NX6600-VTD GEForce 256Mb AGP
Creative Audigy (1)
19" CRT at 1024x768x32
Win XP Home

Graphic settings at "Excellent" (unsure if patch altered during installation)
Patch & test copy of 1946 placed on a 15GB partially filled partition leaving only -500Mb free space.
IMPORTANT!!!.....My 1946 software is "mod free".

Installation went flawlessly from download at M4T, to unzip, to installation (taking all of 30 seconds both patches maps+skins).

Only testing performed online via HL in coops altered (switched out maps with existing missions).

1946 Manchuria map has always caused stutters...
New Slovakia map was smooth without a single pause or lag (will try and get some numbers as to FPS soon).

The view/general appearance of the landscape seemed much darker then most others
The briefing map, and pad map was a shocking change from our norm....Quite a bit too dark for my tastes yet usable (perhaps a glitch?...as rivers were royal blue like axis frontline markers, green of map a very dark shade).

New default skins worked, etc.....

Suggest some tests and I'll run them on my lower end system.

Four of us, my Athlon is mobile, but it's Barton core, same as desktop AthlonXP...
The new dll's probably use some newer CPU instructions which our old Athlons don't support. I had similar problem with Call Of Duty 4...

Hmm you have Athlon 64, not Athlon XP, you are the first exception...

There are minor differences between the two Brain32... Would be interesting to hear from AMD FX53 and up owners. I tested patch on AMD X2 4600, works fine...

AMD & DLL problems

Another AMD user here, CSThor's DLLs made it start for me.
Mine is XP 2400+ :)

Not trying to be a broken record or shift the intent of the thread.......

However I think for the sake of getting the beta to the final version it is important that people "honestly" state whether they tried to patch over "modded" 1946 software or clean when they encountered any problem in the process. (regarding the swapping out of .dll's as well).

I installed over 4.08m. I haven't tried this sound mod or whatever it is.

No mods here, clean installation.

And BTW, in my case, the guilty for not starting the game is the new "mg_snd_sse.dll" library. If I only use the new mg_snd.dll, leaving the other old one, the game starts OK.

hi all,
the game didn' t start here too, problem solved with Thor' s dll files; clean install over 408m, never used sound mod, CPU is an old AMD XP 1800+
