i dont remember what i actually paid but IMHO it does well its job so its worth the money( if doesnt costs much)

I had a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro for my laptop as it was more portable than an X52 pro but it only last 3 months of heavy abuse on IL2 before it got twitchy and unreliable. Never going to buy a cheap stick again. The only stick I would consider now is the Thrustmaster Warthog.

Unfortunately I would also put the X52 Pro in the 'cheap stick' class. I have pulled apart and rebuilt both X52 Pro and the Logitech Extreme 3D and am actually more impressed by the internal build quality of the Logitech than the X52. I almost bought the Warthog but decided to build my own stick instead.

Good OP by the way, Luthier. An intelligent post.

I looked at my own post and realize it reads like I was bad-mouthing that joystick. That wasn't my intent at all. The 3d Pro was the first joystick I bought many years ago, and it's still the stick I recommend to people when I'm trying to talk them into trying out a flight sim or space sim. (Oh crap, I just admitted to playing silly spaceship games on this forum, didn't I?) At $20 it's cheap enough to almost be considered a disposable toy, but it's still good enough to actually play a game. It's a great starter joystick. :)

+1, excellent for the price and a strong starter stick.

I think Gennady is the guy who had his doughnut stolen on his first day in the office and ever since, just before patches are released, he takes his "virtual spanner" and throws it into the works :)

What's a good space SIM nowadays?
