Just go into training mode, then set the time to night and the wether to storm. Pick Dover as your area, and then try to land your plane at the airfield. If you manage to do it (has to be on film!) then you are a master of this game!

I did it! and it wasnt that difficult...;) It was on realistic though... tried on sim first... but that didnt work :P. I took realistic..and put in on 3th person view...and stay very low and slow the whole time.. then when the trees stop.. its your time to go !

Im calling bullshit on that lol :-P

Above cloud its fine, visibility is fairly good. But below the clouds, in the dark, in a storm.... not happening!! You cant see 3ft infront of you, let alone any trees. And i've crashed a couple of times at a good altitude because the english country side isnt flat, its full of hills etc.

did it ;)... on realistic... but i did 'cheat' :P... put the brightness fully up :P.. then you can see the trees when you are really low... when the trees stop... you go down and land

simulator!

no points for me then :P... but you could try the same thing with the brightness on sim ;)

yeah although in the cockpit its harder to tell how high you are, and you also have to look at the dials on sim, as you dont have the HUD.

I deleted that post you quoted :P.. I was feeling guilty that I didnt mention the brightness adjustment :P

yeah, although i do remember the area around the airfield (the one that you have to land on during the Red Skies Of Dover Mission) being relatively flat.

Surely setting the weather to blind instead of storm would be even harder?

Hard to fly in the weather without an approach system to get you back on the ground... :)

Just curious, but have you succeeded at accomplishing this task?

CRASH!!!!!!! *Hollywood explosion*

And that is why pilots don't try to land in stormy weather at night in real life. (and with no lights on the runway at all)

Actually, we do land at night in all kinds of crappy (stormy) weather. The only time we wouldn't is if there is significant convective activity right on top of the field or along the approach path. However, we do have several different instrument approach systems to use as well as highly effective runway lighting systems.

Maybe if I crash enough planes I'll be able to see by the light of the burning wreckage?

anyone managed this yet (without cheating!)
