There is no aircraft that is better than any others, it all depends on your flying style.
I love me some Spitfires, but others hate them. Some love BF109's, but others hate them. Some love Yak 3's and others hate them, some love LA-7's and others hate them.
It so depends on your flying style.

I153 ftw!

All in order of how I fly. I couldn't call myself Soviet Ace if I didn't fly them :P
Yak-3- What's not to love. The best well armed and maneuverable monoplane in the game.
La-5FN- Good all around plane, well armored and armed.
I-153 Chaika- Best turning and all around maneuverability
Yak-1- Good against lighter armored planes.
Yak-9- Not my favorite Yak, but it gets the job done.
I-16 Rata/Mosca- No one can touch me in this little "Rat".
La-7- Powerful, nice to fly, but for some reason still feels like a La-5FN

Like people stated, its a matter of personal taste. I prefer flying the german planes of course, even though they are no match to some other planes.
If i could pick a plane that handles well all around it must be the LA5FN (great to fly)
But i prefer the 109 G6 (even if i get my arse kicked against spits).

La 7 is the best plane in my book. Great turning and also really fast. Also it's extremely easy to fly.
Yet after Soviet Ace told me to check out the Yak 3, I've found myself flying it a lot more than the La 7... Even though I will never agree with him that it flies as well as the La 7. It's slower and doesn't turn as well.

Love the La-7 as well. Think it's the best plane to start with, since it's so easy to fly. It's outturned by a Spit IV, but those are trickier to fly. Disadvantage of the La-7 is it's fire rate though..
109's are also easy to fly, but they have a higher turning radius than most planes.
funny how the Russian devs made a game with uber russki planes and bargain basement yanky fighters...just sayin (build quality (not strength) irl it was kind of the other way round)
Best plane ...109 g6...anything outside of a 1on1 encounter and its got a tasty amount of firepower and is well balanced. Just feels right...
strike? Gotta be ar234...catch me if you can...
as for the po...I would Love a BIG dogfight with nothin but Pos...someone please make it happen and be kind enough to send me an invite...

I dont know what it is, but every time I try to fly with a plane other than a Spitifire I dont enjoy it as much. If I had another crate that handled the same as a spit I would probably use it more. But now I am used to the wing based gunfire, so planes like the 109 put me off for aiming.
Its kinda got to the point now where me in my Spitfire are almost untouchable. Not to toot my own horn but with the MkIX last night I won an 8 man dogfight game 15-1 (as in I got 15 and only one other person got a single kill).
Btw, what one of the 109's is the best handling and how to do I get it?

Well considering that the La-7 has a larger engine and all around a bit larger plane than the Yak-3, I could see where your flaw in that statement is. ;) :P

Too True!!! The early Russian planes were garbage, period. They were shot down in the thousands and yet here we are playing a game where the I16 and I153 are two of the top planes or at least hold their own??? C'mon thats downright embarrasing! Admittedly you just have to use the right tactics, I shot down several 153's last night in a F4 simply by gunning and running, they're so slow, just don't get into a turning fight. Such a shame about the 190 and P-51 they were in the top five fighters in WW2 maybe 1 and 2 if you consider the P-51D and the Fw190D9 in particular but the Russian dev's have made them far and away the two worst planes in this game, yes I understand that if used properly they have some positive points but they are no where near as good as they should be. Funny I thought only Americans were this delusionally patriotic.
Now that I've sufficiently ticked off two world super powers...
Loving the game overall what a blast, its just the online system needs work and some machines dynamics are innaccurate. All in all 8.5/10!!! Thank you Anton et al.

For me, it goes something like this;
Spifire XVI
Bf-109 K-4
P-51D-5 (Flight model could use some improvement though)
Ju-87 B-2
Fw-190 A-5
Ju-87 is awesome tbh, five bombs and a real small turning circle, I managed to shoot down a 109 and a B-17 with the front guns :D

Hey since we're talking on line here who the hell does one find a decent sized game? I live in Canada and the gameonly came out Friday so I haven't had much time but I did spend a couple hours on line last night and was only able to find arcade games and only very few players, not a single realistic game. I am missing something? To be honest the arcade was ok but seemed a lot like Blazing Angels now obviously its WAY better but the fact that is was a non stop furball with unlimted f/a, crazy speed and no stalling it was not what I'm excited about this game for. Is there a particular time or game type I should be looking for?

I would have said that most people play arcade (I know I do) because it's hard to stall. I played a few simulator strike games with a few friends earlier on, and although i'm beginning to get the hang of it, arcade does offer more fun per crashes, which are penny a piece in Simulator for me. I have to say that I did get kinda boring when every time I pulled back on the stick the plane stalled, entered a flat spin and plummeted to the ground like a sack of ******* bricks.

Last night was pretty quiet. I was online for a while (I actually saw you sign in just as I was signing off), yet matches were few and far between. I played quite a bit on Saturday, though; and weeknights are generally good times to find matches.
Lastly, I couldn't agree more about the flight models for the P-51 and FW-190 series planes. How these were messed up is beyond me. Every pilot that has flown a P-51 speaks of the absolute joy one finds when piloting these planes (similar to a Spit pilots talking about their aircraft), yet the plane is flat awful in the game. I just don't get it... and I'm saddened because I wanted to fly these two planes the most.

Try flying the La's or 109's first, with the elevator sensitivity down a bit, after a while you'll get the hang of it. I'll admit I haven't played arcade, but from what I've heard there's not a big difference between the airplanes there.

I was in a 109 to begin with, and it wasn't too bad. However, deciding to unlock the Ju-87D meant I needed to win in the Ju-87B, and that's when I started falling out of the sky.
Well, some things in arcade aren't bad - with a decent pilot behind the stick, planes like the Hurricane can successfully outturn and defeat 109's and stuff
On the other hand, I saw a B-17 do a fairly tight loop yesterday, so...

Just remember that everyone has the same problem if they don't watch out. Part of being good at this game is knowing your aircraft, and being able to turn as tight as possible without stalling it is an important part of that, just like knowing how fast you can pull up without dropping a wing.
