Here is the correct layout that will put gamepad players at the same level as joystick users. It is adjustable to suit cetian play styles and for people with left hands. the most important thing is that it lets players keep their hands on the most important parts of the plane at all times

Rstick-elevator/ailerons (switchable to left stick for southpaws)
Lstick-Throttle/rudder//// When activated will let players look around cockpit
Rstick click down-target camera(toggle, not hold down)
Lstick click down-cockpit lookaround (toggle or hold down *selectable in options" , this way the player can manuever the plane with the right stick while still having the ability to look around the cockpit during a dogfight with the left, downside is no throttle control when activated)

Right button-zoom (toggle)
Left button-trimming
Right trigger-Guns/cannons
Left trigger-Bombs/rockets

A button-switch targets//Hold to switch to objective
B button-Landing gear
X button-flaps
Y button- empty / new feature?

You shouldn't double post. Anton would have read it out of his own thread anyway.

I think it's a big enough issue to justify a new thread. How about editing your post as it contributes nothing to the topic.

I haven't played the demo (no internet connection) but that control mapping looks far superior to the current settings.

Honestly it cant be hard to change a botton layout, I mean are you telling me there are no left handers around? If i was a left hander, id not buy this game.

Hi. First, I'm new here. I'm not that good writer but I think this is important! After playing the demo, I was quite disappointed. But after seeing the entries in this forum, I've got some hope!
This is my altered version of the controls!! I thought long about it and this is how I would like to see the controls of my dreams. (excuse me for my bad english, I'm german) ;)

Rstick - Throttle/rudder (also cockpit lookaround)*
Lstick - elevator/ailerons*
Rstick click - cockpit lookaround (toggle)*
Lstick click - select (enemy?) target in center (even in freelook, this is a "must-have" feature in my opinion)*
*of course southpaw switchable!

Right Bumper - bombs / rockets
Right Trigger - Fire Guns
Left Bumper - target camera (toggle)
Left Trigger - Zoom (fully adjustable in 3-5 steps (smooth zooming). And works in target view & freelook!)

A button - switch targets / /Hold to switch to objective
B button - switch friendly / hold to select wingman (you need this for teamplay!! The map isn't helping)
X button - flaps / hold landing gear
Y button - Instrumental view (quick and good access if you looking for something. Maybe with a little zoom? No toggle & do not cancels target view etc. after releasing. Maybe backview when in 3rd person view)

P.S. And pls do something about the stall. I don't like the "arcade" difficulty (button layout & damage etc.) but I hate the easy stall of the more realistic modes. I use a gamepad (not a joystick) and I have no feeling for the stall at all. When I was younger I flew some glider (sailplane) and you have so many feedback from the plane before you even come close to a stall.

Why not give the player some more time before the plane stalls? Give him some visual & audio feedback! Like wind noise and shaking from the plane so the player can react more easily. More headshaking during fire, hits, flak, turns etc. would be nice, too by the way.

Thanks for your good work here and I hope you'll find my suggestions useful!

I am left-handed.
I will be buying the game.
The default control set-up is fine for me.

That said, I appreciate that some people don't like the settings - it would be great if all games allowed you to edit the controller set-up. I have no problem if the requested set-up is ADDED. Just don't remove the current set-up.

I guess a button layout suggestion thread is in order.

I'm fine with the current layout except I only wish to 'toggle' R3 to get the camera view. A neat thing to do would be being able to use buttons on a controller keyboard so that there are more buttons to choose from. But I don't think it is possible right now. Maybe in sequel.

The best thing Anton could do IMHO is to make multiple flight control options. If I were a betting man I'd bet Anton flies RC planes. He patterned the current BOP settings (with L stick elevator/ailerons) on the European format for RC plane controls. The problem is most game developers use the US format so most gamers worldwide are used to that method.

To be fair on Anton you couldn't just flip the control sticks round. It would be virtually impossible to trim an aircraft with the controls and the trim button located on the same side of the controller, and I'm sure there are other problems too.

Am I to understand that the controls in BOP won't be customizable? It would seem to me that the ability to set up your controls would be standard issue in today's games. I am really stoked about this title but I am a little worried about the gameplay now. There appears to be some serious flaws in BOP if all of this forum's contributers complaints are present in the retail version.

stop worrying , the only way this game can fail is if the sim mode is taken out

which wont happen
