Having just stopped playing with the pc editor .

I noticed that its INCREDIBLY easy to use. and great stuff could be created relitively fast and easily.

Easy enough to design this editor to work with a simple 360 controller

Just with the power of placing air and ground units you can make some pretty cool battles to share with your freinds and the community.

To create a unit (Air , land , sea) place your cursor (controlled by the left analog stick) On the exact spot on the map where you would want to place it.
And press A.

This will bring up a menu asking for the type of unit you want to create. (air , sea , land) followed by sub menus like (fighter, bomber, heavy bomber/ Carrier, battleship,transport/ Tanks,Artillery, anti aircraft)

after you select the type of unit an place it on the map , you can select (click on the unit to edit it) with the x button

This will bring up the edit menu .

Inside this menu will contain facts about the unit (altitude, speed , azimuth, what side its fighting for) and what weaponry its carrying(disabled for everything but aircraft). as well as if you want this unit to be player controlled or not (obviously for aircraft only)

Other than that , when you have the unit selected , move your cursor to a location on the map and press y

This will bring up the waypoint menu

Inside this menu you can select the altitute and speed you want your planes to approach the waypoint at. If you dropped the waypoint on a enemy unit , this will make this unit a target to be bombed/stafed.

after you choose the target , you can make more waypoints all the way back to the carrier or airfeild to finish the mission

This is just a rough sketch , what do you guys think?

Imagine they would add a Replay function as well or even a video editor. No idea if it's feasible on the X360 to add that for a game like this, but it would be wonderful to make your own movies with different camera angles.

its more than possible

its just if the devs wanted to do it or not

Probably the pressure of the release date. Well, they need room to improve for a sequal :)

The map editor sounds good. I love creating absolutely huge battles with 100 or more aircraft on the PC version. I made a Battle of Kursk map once and flew as a German Bf109 pilot against massive waves of Il2s and smaller numbers of Russian fighters. Boom-and-zoom with a 109 is awesome in these situations. That and unlimited ammo, which I turned on because I kept running out of bullets.

I love the idea because mission builders are awesome in general.

It might be a big build though, heh sounds like a top down RTS game.

Did Far Cry 2 ship with the Map Editor on consoles, or just PC?
That thing is advanced as hell, way more intense than what you're describing - basically parameters and units into an existing map, right?

I'd be on board for sure. But i'd still be voting for a dynamic campaign structure first; that is my all-time favorite way to play.

It would be amazing if a game shipped with a feature like yours, guilty but I see it being a DLC content feature perhaps. A tough call; DLC is released to make money first n foremost but mission builders are a hardcore players' tool (hence: niche).

Hmm. I say ship it with.

Like Falcon 4.0! That was an awesome campaign mode man.

Yeah, putting existing units onto existing maps is how the PC version works. You can still have a lot of fun though, and setting up anti-ship missions is a particular favourite of mine.

hitting a carrier with a 2000 pound bomb from 5000 feet = win

heh, sounds like potential to me.

And European Air War ....Aces Over Europe/The Pacific....etc.

Really its like an auto mission builder using historical info from whatever battle/squadron/timeline you choose.

And the really good campaigns mix in an epic scripted historical mission when certain dates come up.

Not completely the same. Falcon 4.0 was the most complex dynamic campaign I've ever seen. It was also praised by all the critics for its complexity.

This was discussed a long time ago and Anton said console editors are hard to make, but FarCry2 and OFP Elite had fine editors.

I would like to see this in a DLC since it will INFINITELY expand gameplay especially if you could invite at least one person in it with you.
