Sim, though I will need to buy a 360 compatible flightstick to get the most out of it.

I think it will depend in large part on what the people I'm playing against are doing. I can see myself playing some games with the types of people who will insist on sim only mode and others where anything goes and it's more just for a laugh. Very much the same as I do with racing sims already.

definately simulation
while its hard to aim with the ace edges deadzone , its a huge differance over the controller scheme
But when the game first comes out there wont be many sim rooms for obvious reasons , people wont be getting into simulation until like a month of playing the game. which isnt a bad thing , its a progressive thing and im glad anton fought for it.

yeah but can you really dogfight in sim, no tight turns??

? what do you mean?
if you pull back on the stick all the way in the game ( most times is physically impossible for the pilot unless he is flying by wire ) you lose control
so the most amount of pull you can get without losing control is your "tight turn"
You can still dogfight with it , but dogfighting is rarely turning battles , that was for jet planes.

i mean like you pull back all the way to the left, right, up to get away from your enemy, i know its sim, and you cant pull all the way, but is it really possible to get away from an enemy online (i know all the planes will play under that same rule, so your attacker cant go all the either, but will that work online, qua looks if you cant turn that tight,
maybe im asking this because in other flightgames on console,if you got some on your back , the first thing you do is make a tight turn in any direction and try to lose your opponent, never played pc sims so im curieus how that works
so what do you mean by so the most amount of pull you can get without losing control is your "tight turn"

yes its how it works
BTW
the most amount of pressure you can pull the flight stick before you start stalling and spinning is your "tight turn" speed
and the faster you are going the less chance that you are going to spin out
so if you are coming from above you can gain alot of airspeed and turn as hard as you want

Really, the way the planes stall so easily when you pull back the flight stick all the way is unrealistic. If that was a real plane, then at high speed the controls would take more force to use, and this should be simulated by reducing the sensitivity of the controls as speed increases.
This would mean that the amount you moved the control stick on your gamepad would represent how much force you were applying to the flight stick, instead of the current setup which is basically giving WWII fighters fly-by-wire controls.
So at low speeds the controls would be very sensitive, while as the speed increased so would the amount of force required to move the control surfaces, and the analogue stick need to be moved further to move the control surfaces the same amount.
This setup would be a lot more realistic.

The Ace Edge has no deadzone.
If you are noticing any deadzone, it is programmed into the game.

oke thanks like the coming from above part, gaining speed

I hope a huge dead zone isn't programmed in. That would make gunnery a pain in the butt.

I didn't get to play very long this morning, but there definitely wasn't a dead zone that jumped out and smacked me in the face like it did with Ace Combat 6 and HAWX.
I can't say that there isn't any, but if there is... It is definitely not the fault of the controller.

No it doesn't.
Plug it into the PC, and go to the calibration settings.
You can see quite clearly that the controller itself has absolutely no deadzone.
