A BOB mission including birds, that never saw action in the BOB, at least that is the impression I get out of the info's available on the BOP Homepage.
Bf-109F4
Hurricane MKII
spitfire MKII
What's the point of making it more realistic with smashing graphics, just to drop it all from a historic point of view. But let the kiddies have their fun, while we continue to play with the real thing

The Bf109E3 and Bf110C feature in many screenshots, and the Spitfire IIb and Hurricane IIb are used purely to balance firepower.

For my part there is no need to balance anything, as Historical accuracy was the strong point of Il2, until the freaky missions and planes in 1946

Pompous douchyness is not necessary.
Maybe you should search through the forum for your answers instead of letting your 'impressions' do the thread starting.

Yes maybe I should, but after reading some of the posts here, I have decided not to search further through the forum.
NB: as I wrote in my first post, my 'impressions' relate to the website of Birds of Prey, and not to this forum.

Actually I like my games balanced especially on-line. I play video games for fun, not to get constantly pwned because I don't have a plane as good as my opponent, because that was historically accurate.
It should be about my and my opponents skill, not the planes themselves. That's why games should be played on a level field or they simply are not fun for one team. Not being fun for one team means you will sit endlessly in lobbies waiting for noobs that don't realise they have been handicapped from the start who then quit as as the realise their planes don't stand a chance. No fun.
just when I think this forum has reached its limit of pedantry someone else rocks up...
If people want the real thing then go stop kidding yourself and go take flight lessons in a real plane...
ps Yossarian is spot on about game balance...just look at the utterly endless bitching about martyrdom/juggernaut whatever in Cod4...

On the other hand, not so many Hurricanes are flyable now :) Actually, none of them - as well as most of othe WW2 planes.
Not to say about ability to shoot at enemy plane with guns (and not homing missiles) and to bomb Nazis. :)

I saw a Hurricane fly last June at tibenham uk..
If you want dogfighting go to Redshanks Pub in East London- ask for Barry...it'll cost you a monkey but the betting's good;)
If you want to bomb Nazi's just try the Israeli Foreign Minister,
Coca Cola South America...
or Chelsea FC young supporters club C18...to name but a few
you might get into trouble though...

THeirs a museum by my house that has a number of flyable WWII aircraft. Spitfire, Hurrican, BF-109, B-25, lancaster, all that stuff. They fly over my house the odd time.

A couple years ago, my parents bought me ride in a B-25 for my birthday. One of the coolest experiences ever. They even had extra space, so my wife got to ride along as well for free. Got to crawl in all the gun positions and squeeze myself over the bomb-bay area. Fun stuff...

what happened to the BBMF's two Hurricane mkII's? they were still flying last i looked - have i missed something? and dont forget that they also have a Battle of Britain veteran mkII Spitfire (all be it a non-cannon one) which still sports combat damage to this day.

A quick look at wiki shows three airworthy Hurricane MkIIs, and another seven on public display. There are also nine other airworthy Hurricanes.

the bbmf flew at Old Buckenham Air Show (Tibenham) in Norfolk last June/July.
When I can find my pictures (I've since emigrated!) I'll post the Hurricane for identification by those more knowledgeable than I..
Its THE most intimate airshow I've ever been to (twice)... I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who can make it to Norfolk...simply wonderful

Hey irrelevant, they do the same thing in my hometown.
Hamilton, Ontario....the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. They've got a B-25J (i think...solid nose bristling w/guns) that's totally flyable with tours. Pretty sweet.
One of the biggest collections in NA, and our biggest, it features birds of a mostly Brit/Canuck connection. There was a big fire in one of the hangers in the 90s, destroyed a few planes including a beautiful early Spit.
But they've got 25 flyables including the jewel of the bunch: one of two surviving, and the only flyable Avro Lancaster. A true beauty. She flies over my house every summer - an unmistakable rumble, it knocks your mind out of the daily hum quite convincingly.
Oh and they've got a Hurricane IIb, just like in the game.

Looking at wiki once again, there are apparently 17 complete Lancasters in the world, of which the only the 2 mentioned by you guys are flyable, though there are plans to bring another 3 up to airworthy standards.

Ecstatic.
Whatever stupid statements Avi Lieberman has made, I have yet to find one where he has advocated genocide or any sort of violence. I'm curious as to why Lieberman would be singled out when we both know that there are people in this world that are actually doing these things?
Considering that this is at least the second time that you have managed to use this forum to post deliberately offensive statements, it would really help if you exercise your due consideration before you open your mouth instead of after.

You're a real humanist, juz.
You can cry yourself to sleep at night worrying about a man who has not advocated any violence against any minority, while Darfur gets a pass, it's sunny in Zimbabwe, and they just had a peaceful election in Iran.
A politician makes one stupid statement, what a novelty. You just made four (by your own count), I guess that makes you downright dangerous.

I'm not mentioning countries-you are. In my original post I mentioned one politician, a company and a group of football fans/thugs. We can move on to Darfur, Zimbabwe or Iran (although I don't recall the election being particularly peaceful)if you like (Iraq, Balkans, Chechenya, etc etc).
A certain politician makes ONE stupid statement? That one being demanding pictures of Hitler meeting a Palestinian Cleric going up in embassies worldwide? Or one of the many others?
(Is this five or six?)
-lives are not at stake by what I say, but he's got quite a responsibility there. Politicians rarely talk "violence"- they talk about "Problems" and "Solutions". Go figure.

Here's what we know about you, juz: By your own admission you are a humanitarian who calls a person who has not advocated, condoned, or participated in any violence, a nazi who should be bombed on, of all things, a flight sim forum.
You are a deeply sensitive soul. with the tear-stained pillow to prove it, who has made, by your own count, five or six deliberately offensive and totally irrelevant statements on, of all things, a flight sim forum.
The fact that you couldn't be bothered to Google that Palestinian cleric and find out about his actual collaboration with the nazis, and his role in the Final Solution (there's that word again) illustrates your depth of knowledge in this matter.
The fact that you completely missed the sarcasm in my reference to the "peaceful" election in Iran, indicates that you are not worth bothering about anymore.
We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

.
a) its because Anton himself mentioned bombing Nazis...I mentioned Avi amongst others, then retracted the statement when you found it offensive. Your summaries are interesting though...however your passive aggressive insults are getting tired...
b) Avi as a grown man punched a 12 year old child in the face AND was convicted for it. (NOT VIOLENCE?)
c) Not only did Avi suggest drowning Palestinian prisoners he offered to drive the bus.(NOT CONDONING VIOLENCE?)
d) Yes Google, Wiki, Reuters, BBC, ABC, Any free press, just check it out..lots more about your fave pin up.- please don't bother with me anymore...;)BYE

This makes me laugh; some of you are hilarious.
You scrutinize someone for saying that making this sim less historically accurate is silly, and then in another topic you will start saying 'I can't wait to try sim mode, oh how I am looking forward to sim mode'. It's plain ridiculous.
What the original poster was pointing out, and what I agree with, is that you can't make a realistic simulator by incorporating unrealistic features just to allow the arcade-style gamers to shoot down heinkills with one burst from a spitfire. And it is plain ridiculous to argue that it balances the game; that is so contrare. In the Battle of Britain the RAF were vastly outnumbered, but their planes weren't inferior, which is basically what anyone is implying when they say that the Spitfire IIb and Hurricane IIb are used purely to balance firepower. The fact is that if you want to fly a realistic simulator, you will be going through what the simulator is based on-so if you fly the BoB then you will be the mark 1 spitfires and hurricanes. Although they lack canons (well, apart from the 1B spitfire) if you get in close and aim in the right spots you can compensate for that.
But this is my opinion. I am really looking forward to this game, but I am outraged that someone be slandered for pointing out that this game is historically incorrect. I find the fact that this game has to be historically incorrect just to appeal to people moaning it takes too long to shoot down a heinkill a bit sad.
I also find it odd that people are comparing this to COD4. Last I look CoD4 wasn't a simulator...
