Hi all!
Been following this forum and fine community for the last few weeks and I am just as eager to get my hands on a copy of BoP as all of you :)
Been a wile since I was last flying sims (read release of Janes WWII fighters) but this game look just as beautiful as I have been hoping for games to get. Enjoyed the Heroes of the pacific in front of the TV but it newer hooked me more than as a “funny unrealistic arcade”. Newer tested IL-2 but finally real games appear to my PS3!!!
On to my question. What PS3 flightstick will be best suited for this game? I will mostly play cockpit view for preferred experience and I believe that looking around is a vital part of dogfighting. How is this implemented? I can see it work with the dualshock but I believe a PS3 flightstick will have all of its axis programmed for other stuff (throttle, flaps etc.). Experience from other flight sims?
Will have to order a flight stick since they are not that usual in Sweden for ps3 and I want the right stuff. Maybe I will have to live with jumping between cockpit and target tacking view :(
Keep up the good work!

With regards to Anton I have just ordered the Thrustmaster hotas x for my ps3. This seems to me as the best flight stick available for the ps3 at the moment with the d-pad (hat) controlling view in multiplayer and separate throttle/ruder. Hope it is 8 available directions and not 4 on the hat/view.
The Ace edge and Hori was exactly what I had expected to be available for the ps3 with a separate analog stick for viewing but I hope this game will be a hit on the market with new flight sticks popping up… maybe the publisher have a secret card in their sleeve?
Now I will wait for the ps3 demo and my hotas x…

Anton recommended the Thrustmaster Hotas X for PS3. ;)
Has anyone seen the Thrustmaster Hotas thingy cheaper than £24.99 (UK)

I'm thinking of ditching the PS3 gamepad for the Thrustmaster hotas. Does it work on your lap or do you have to fix it to a flat surface? TIA

Yeah it works ok on your lap. The bonus about it is you can split it and have throttle and flight stick seperated by wire. Simply a couple of screws in the base and its done. It becomes slightly less stable like that when not on a hard surface but I find it comfier over long stretches as you can put them either side of you on the couch

Unless the Thrustmaster Hotas X flight stick is now doing miracles after the patch, I would not recommend you buying it. Waste of money for this game. If you buy it because you will also use it for the PC version, then buy it , maybe. There is no better option than to use the pad, sorry guys I had to learn this the hard way. Sad but true, this game in my opinion was not meant for a flight stick.

Using an analog stick to look around is generally superior to a hat switch. The ps3 controller is also small and allows you to access all the other controls while still maintaining full control of the stick, throttle and view. The only thing that sucks is the rudder.
Some people use layout 4 but I still like aviator layout because it gives great control over the throttle, you change power just by adjusting the pressure on the buttons. To make your enemy overshoot.

Those Spitfire bombs were useless against the ship. May as well dropped water balloons on it
Good tip if some attacks when you are in a turn go horizontal to them as it reduces the surface they have to aim at. Just roll over flat and you remove your wings as a target. You can still continue turning just using the rudder
