I want to play IL2 1946 with my 360 controller for practice
what are the controls?
And another question (off topic a little)
Can you look around in the cockpit only with the ace edge stick ?
that little analog stick on top?
Or is there a special way to do it on the 360 controller too?

Yes the "Hat swithc" is the one on top used to look around.
I believe he said to look around you had to click the right stick down then you could look around the cockpit.

How are you using your 360 controller with your PC btw? Good idea about practising the controls!

there is this little dongle you can buy from microsoft that enables you to hook your 360 controller up to your pc

PS you can find it for much cheaper i think
Or you can just use a standard wired xbox 360 controller

I have tried using the 360 controller with Il-2 PC. It works, though only halfway. The Pitch/roll was alright but none of the buttons and the right joystick didnt work
maybe there is a MOD or something for it, would be good practise

Get that and use your controller for any game you want. ;)
There are free applications that are similar, but Pinnacle is by far the most in depth and customizable. It's worth it.

Really a moot point for me, as I have the Ace Edge, but I know others that will be using the regular pad, and it is probably too late to make control suggestions/requests, but...
It would actually be a LOT more useful to click the left stick down while looking around with the right stick.
It isn't really all that easy to hold in the click on the same stick you are trying to look around with.

Hopefully clicking down the right stick toggles between functions, because the system of having to hold down the camera stick to look around is very awkward. I know because thats how the camera system worked in Battlestations Midway.

The Ace Edge hat stick is clickable, just in case you guys didn't know that. It's a little stiff on mine, so it took me a while to realize it.
