Damn. I hope the B-17 and P-38 are one of the 12.:(

Remember, every article and preview of BoP has stated that the multiplayer details HAVE NOT been revealed. That would be where the other planes are flyable, especially considering the IGN write-up describes the MP as being more adversarial than co-op.

12 planes have been confirmed....for the CAMPAIGN. I wouldn't fret too much.

Thanks for posting those sasquatch.
I hope BoP gains some reasonable buzz otherwise i would say it confirms that we're all huge nerds following a cult genre. ;)

I'm pretty sure thats only in single player. Multi-player, now that should be a different story...

It has been stated that you can fly as the Luftwaffe in multiplayer.

Found a review from Jeuxvideo.com at E3 and translated it for you guys. (Bare with it, there are some mistakes)

Initially, the series IL-2 rather in the category of advanced simulators, if not hardcore. Suffice it to say that his arrival on consoles was surprise. Willing to open to the general public without sacrificing realism fans, the series will have a big difference based on three modes of play first, cleverly named Arcade offers different modes of view, assistance steering as well as ammunition and fuel unlimited. The second, Realistic, offers limited resources but abundant. The latter for its part, known as the simulation requires the cockpit view, a much less lax monitoring and ammunition rationed. A mode that is closer to the original experience. Come visit the skies of World War II.

In Arcade mode that the game was presented to us, going around the various functions of 6 campaigns Thursday missions covering the usual spectrum simulation fighter aircraft to escort the bombing through recognition or aerial combat, pure and simple. Despite the choice of a low difficulty and permissive, this demo gives every opportunity to see some details such as the management of localized damage. Thus, a bad shot on the wing would make the stabilization of the aircraft more difficult and what applies to you also for your enemies. We can note in this regard immediately the level of detail and the care provided to its realization. So often after a plane shot down it tends to disappear, this is not the case here. When an enemy lampshade, you can follow its course to the ground to see it crash and find later that his carcass did not move. In passing on the benefit seen with environments modeled from satellite maps but a level of detail is not fading as we approached the ground. Simply put: this is really all that pretty. Even the modeled 3D cockpits are a little happiness for the eyes.

Obviously, the villains are not the only ones to crash. When this happen, you will have the right not to load a backup but 4 new opportunities. Supported by wingers, who will give you the usual orders (attack, defense, training), when you go fondle the ground too close is one that you embody. One way to avoid the frustration of loading a new backup while maintaining a challenge by limiting the number of opportunities to return to your point of death. Of course, the ideal remains not die. What you may be able to avoid taking advantage of cloud cover very nicely done. Somewhere over the Ardennes, you're flying merrily over a thick layer of clouds. A small stake and you can say goodbye to the sun to go flying in a white fog concealing you completely. Once the water crossing, the scene changes entirely. While aloft, the sun of the game on the ground, are the snowy Ardennes, the weather gray and German unwelcoming.

Warm, the enemy will be even less when you fly over Berlin armed with bombs and rockets. A mission that illustrates quite well the extent of fighting proposed by Birds of Prey. The sky is flooded sixty aircraft while in soil, successive explosions, smoke out the Berlin sky, a magnificent spectacle sadly. Here, the player opting for the Simulation mode will know to fly to the ground with rockets without the aid of an automatic lock and being aware that its munitions that are more limited. Quite a challenge considering the scale of the confrontation. Instead, he preferred the Arcade mode to enjoy the chaos air at fair value.

Attractive graphics, offering a large gap between arcade and simulation, the incursion of the series IL-2 Sturmovik is well positioned to attract a large number of fans dogfights. Course is expected to be able to lay the hands on the beast and especially his taste Simulation mode to forge a more solid opinion, but at first glance, this looks very good.

I also tranlated a Chinese website review, but was filled with many English errors. But the good news is, is that it said the B-17 is flyable! It also mentioned something about flying over London in the game too.

That jeuxvideo.com site also has about 60 screenshots for BoP. Some may be new.

"When asked about multiplayer, the nod was given to arcade and some realism mode. Multiplayer simulation mode is still an unknown, but 505 Games is trying to get the right balance. The issue is the increased load with simulation mode, and the developers concern with maintaining good framerates."

Hmm. I sure hope that sim mode for multiplayer is an option.

agreed.

split em up like the CoD interface....hardcore servers and core servers.

I agree as well.

Better to be shot down fair and square than by a lucky shot.

I definantly think multi-player should have SIM mode. If it doesn't then well that takes the purpose out of the game. Who agrees.

Yeah, I'm hoping the host can set the room to a sim level. Not much point in mixing it.
