Is it me or does the box look incredibly thick?

A flight manual would be nice. Sure would beat this generation's affinity with the 4 page manuals that don't tell you anything!

On second thought, maybe it's that thick so they could fit in a parachute and flight jacket

For those who haven't pre-ordered it yet the game is only 49.99 at gamestop I reserved it a while back and just remembered the price. Thought I would share.

It's a Stuka, and yeah they are screwed.

PS, it's me in the first Spit:-)

I always thought Stukas had non-retractable landing gear?

Il-2 Sturmovik at just lost its neutrality.
This confirms that we will not have German campaign unlike the old Il-2 on the PC. :(
Maybe he wanted to insist at the accuracy of damage :)

Just looking on play.com website and i think it was £29.99

Play.com are good for getting the game to you a few days or a day early (UK only maybe) They delivered Call Of Duty World At War on Wednesday morning to me. (due for release on the friday).

Might be worth a look....

Edit: Sorry, didnt realise alot of you were from America, what ive just posted probably only usefull to people in in UK or near...

Yup. Just another example of historically ignorant marketing artists and the distribution company's lack of QA to have it corrected. Obviously they all looked at it and said "OooooOOoOooo....nice" without really looking at it. Once someone noticed it, it was decided to leave it as it is as most people playing the console games wouldn't really notice anyway.

Explain why most people playing the console game wouldn't notice?

It's the stuka in the box art we're referring to. The fixed undercarriage seems to be either blown off or magically missing. Of course, pics of the box art also says 'subject to change'.

The in-game photos of stukas show them to be historically correct.

Haha no doubt. There's only like 10 of us here in the forum and probably half of us noticed it right off the bat.

Oh, I was just joking, but yeah, I didn't notice that.

Well hopefully it's only limited to the packshot.

Nobody noticed me in the Spit :( (Just you guys arguing about the fixed undercarriage). Seconds before my onboard camera took this picture I shot off the undercarriage. Hope we have this cleared now. :-) Take a good look at the boxart. You'll see parts of the undercarriage flying around.

Judging by your angle of attack you must have had to shoot through the wings to hit the undercarriage.

It possibly could have been a depiction near the end of the war, Stukas had such a low life expectancy that they must have stopped giving them landing gear

Well, i think it is blown off on the right wing, because you can see that theis is somthing on the left wing, through the smoke. Either way, its just box art, i'm sure the game is fine.

the troops on the ground may get spooked by the dive siren ...but for the fighter jocks, like pigs to the slaughter!

Oh ok. Now that I've stared at the pic forever I can see that it's just the smoke that's obscurring the legs of the undercarriage. I mistook the smoke for the background clouds since they are almost the same color.

Then again, I haven't been looking at the one from a few posts earlier. I have been looking at this one:
