Hi Folks

I flew IL2 from the beginning through all the upgrades up till 1946.
Then a long lay off till I got stuck into the DCSA-10.
I did buy CLOD on release out of principle, but never spent time as I was quite comfortable in my HOG.

I have some real noob questions if you would not mind refreshing my memory a bit.

1.Watched a lot of vids on the web and have subsequently updated my CLOD and installed the Team Fusion mod, is this the right thing to do and does it impact on playability with the vanilla version of CLOD?

2.How do I get rid of all the text on the screen, text chat message, control inputs and stuff?

3.I have a Warthog hotas, I have set the joystick axis's with sensitivity all the way to the right, 1.0
and the 2 deadzone all the way to the left (maybe a very very small deadzone center.
I know this is subjective and to everyone own preference, but is this the best I can do? Even though the sensitivity seems ok the controls are a bit to linear for my liking.
I prefer softer inputs near the center, more exaggerated on the extremities of controller input. Ideas, conf?
Its just very twitchy with slight inputs, I know I am rusty, but that's not it.

4.Also if anyone can direct me to Hog Hotas control setup links I would appreciate that very much. I don't use target. Just looking for some good logical layouts that I am sure are around.

5.Controlling fov in flight, back in the day I used to flick between 3 hard coded magnifications programmed on my Saitek hotas at the time, I have seen some vids now with almost a smooth zoom view?
My brief looking through the controls brings up nothing?

I can think of a number more but won't get carried away.
I only number the questions to make it easier to reference for those kind souls that offer some of their experience.

Many thanks in advance.
V

yes that is as much 'curve' the ingame settings allow- however are you hitting APPLY after setting them? hitting back resets to what you had before.

here's an explanation of how the in/out bars on the right work
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showpost.php?p=500331&postcount=3.

Other than that the only thing I can think of is possibly some external program (DXTweak??) might enable you to set a higher curve- don't have any experience of this tho:(

TF is a good way to go, it does improve many aspects of the sim, and if you wish to fly online I believe most servers need this to be installed for you to be able to connect.

It may also be worth your while looking at this guide?

#4 I don't own a Warthog so I'll let others comment on that

#5 is done usually by some 'clever programming' of joystick_ I'm sure Sokol1 will be along shortly to explain this far better than I can.

hope this helps

Hi Vlerkies,

Welcome to the Cliffs of Dover community!

To answer some of your questions:

#1: For me, the Team Fusion patch is the (only) way to go. Really amazing what Team Fusion was able to achieve. And there even will be a second patch being published beginning of September with a lot of additional changes...

#2: See the link already posted by bolox.

#5: Not sure if I got it correctly but the smooth zoom view that you saw in the videos might result from TrackIR.

For further questions it might be an idea to (also) post them in the Team Fusion forum (http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?93-General-Discussion). There is a lot of active forum members there which are very much willing to help!

Thanks guys for the info and links

Yup am definately apply the changes to the axis, I go back and check and thye are indeed where I set them.

Must be my trim controls which are a bit of a mess and need to sort them out. On my old saitek hotas I think I used one of the rotaries for this.

Thanks Robert.

I am familiar with Joy to Key, awesome little application.
What am I mapping to it for zoom though?

Vlerkers,

To set POV (HAT) up for ZOOM in:

http://i40.tinypic.com/wgugrl.jpg

Same for POV (HAT) down, for ZOOM out.

Middle mouse button is default key for "Camera Control in Independent Mode", so JoyToKey pressing then when move mouse up (or down) the mouse cursor is hidden during the ZOOM.

You will notice a excessive ZOOM out that distorting the cockpit image, this is not JoyToKey fault, is game bug, happens using only mouse to ZOOM too.
Seem that dev's forget forgot to set a limit for this ZOOM out... "Typical CloD". :)

Alternatively you can use only HAT up to ZOOM IN and HAT down to reset view to FOV 90 (or 70), to avoid this "psychedelic" ZOOM out.

You could map this ZOOM with TARGET in Warthog throttle mini-stick, but some users report momentary lost of ability to click on cockpit switch if used.

If you map the same HAT left/right to move mouse left/right (as above), this plus a button for "Hold to Ofsett Camera" can be use to look at P8 compass behind control column in Hurri/Spit.
You can look using TrackIR, but this "combo" gives you a static view of instrument.

Sokol1, thx so much for that.
After being out for so long it really helps to just get the basic setups right (which take time).

Appreciate the input, thanks

Yeah thanks all, been buzzing around in my trusty 109 for a bit now. Can't believe how much I suck considering the time I had put in in the past with IL2 series, but I am loving it.

Online cannon fodder coming to a theater near you, soon :)
