Hey, I would like to know if changing my processor could help with fps
My pc:
-Graphic card: GeForce GT240
-Processor: Intel Celeron 430 1.80 GHZ
-4 GB RAM
-Win 7 x64
My question is: I know my processor sucks, but just to make sure, replacing it for an i5 or i7 would help? Is my graphics card also a problem or it's not affecting my fps? Right now I'm running the game maxed out and I get 11-12 fps. I noticed that when I turn antialiasing and FXAA on I get a fps drop. Is that a bad signal from the graphics card?

You can't replace that processor (which is for an LGA 775 socket) with an i5 without also replacing the motherboard. You might be able to replace it with a Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad without replacing the motherboard, depending on how limited the motherboard is, to answer that question you will need to know the make and model of the motherboard. You should be aware that old processors are surprisingly expensive to buy new at this time, it would probably make more sense to buy a modern processor and motherboard than a full price Core 2 Quad.

The graphics card is also old, but I think the priority replacement is just about the CPU in this case.

Yes I forgot to mention that I was thinking in replacing the motherboard too. In that case, would an i5 or i7 be good for this game? Thanks for the help

In this game the I7 wont bring you any advantages over the I5. So, get the better i5 you can (if you have the money, of course) i think it is the 3570,and 3570k, They are 3.4GHz, the K model is overclockable until 3.8GHz. Get a 3rd generation processor (starts with a 3, like 3570, 3330, 3450, 3770(I7) etc). The socket for the motherboard its the 1155 socket, and the chipset must be one ended in 75 or 77, and with a "B" or a "Z" (latest models, for 3rd generation). The P8Z77-V is a good one.
About the grafic card, i dont know much, but before buying new, try yours, it will fit on the new motherboard.
If the GT 240 wont do the job and you dont want to go for an expensive one, (like the Nvidia GTX 660, 670, 680, or ATI 7970, 7870, get a mid-range Nvidia GTX 650 or ATI 7770, 7850), they wont be perfect but i tink they can handle it in mid-settings.
I am not expert in this matter, so if anybody sees anything wrong, correct-me.

Thank you so much for the help. Sorry this is out of place but now that I have your attention, could you please tell me if there's any sound mod out there? I have the latest patch, I just play offline and I would LOVE to have new engine sounds ):

Just don't expect CloD to work because you're going to upgrade. I upgraded two weeks ago and still have problems in the game. FPS is now a dream, but...
While in the FMB my pc locks up.
While in multiplayer my pc locks up 50/50.
Don't waste the money unless it's free to throw around.

Bolelas summed it up pretty good.
@JG26_EZ Are you on 32 or 64 bit OS ?
I think that is your individual problem, even in old 1.05 version from october 2011
I had only 2-3 crashes weekly in MP.

It may be anything causing that, I would run the WEI and see if a hardware problem. About the SSD, they can be problematic, I sent the same model as you back, because Win. sometimes could not read. Another draw back with SSD's, is that defragmentor is permently disabled for that drive by Win. because of the drives short write-to longevety...why I went to conventional drive.

The Windows Experience Index measures the capability of your computer's hardware and software configuration and expresses this measurement as a number called a base score. A higher base score generally means that your computer will perform better and faster than a computer with a lower base score, especially when performing more advanced and resource-intensive tasks.
Each hardware component receives an individual subscore. Your computer's base score is determined by the lowest subscore. For example, if the lowest subscore of an individual hardware component is 2.6, then the base score is 2.6. The base score is not an average of the combined subscores. However, the subscores can give you a view of how the components that are most important to you will perform, and can help you decide which components to upgrade.
You can use the base score to buy programs and other software that are matched to your computer's base score. For example, if your computer has a base score of 3.3, then you can buy any software designed for this version of Windows that requires a computer with a base score of 3 or lower.
The scores currently range from 1.0 to 7.9. The Windows Experience Index is designed to accommodate advances in computer technology. As hardware speed and performance improve, higher score ranges will be enabled. The standards for each level of the index generally stay the same. However, in some cases, new tests might be developed that can result in lower scores.

While Slipball is somehow right in your situation he isn't, you have strong PC.
Are you using some overlays maybe (MSI Afterburner, TS overlay ..) ?
I'll suggest you to go into your Documents >1C SoftClub>il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover> conf.ini and find LOGKEEP=0 line and put LOGKEEP=1 to enable it.
You also have cppcrash folder there and game usually dumps file there after crash.
I think I saw you at ATAG forum so you can post there and Colander can look into those files and figure out which conflict causes CTD.
Game is very stable now for most of the people, we are running SoW campaign with ~ 90 pilots flying without crashes (lot of objects and AI bombers).

Strong, now you can look at software...don't put the SSD out of mind though, maybe google problems with.
