I recently picked this game up and so far everything has been going well. One thing i'm still confused about, though, is the mixture control in the English planes:

According to the game's manual, you shouldn't exceed +1 lbs boost with the mixture set to weak. The problem is the throttle handle knocks the mixture back to rich when moved back past 50%. I heard the mixture control was fixed in the latest patch so is this a mistake in the manual? If so, what are correct settings for economy cruise?

According to the Pilot's notes and Ferry Pilot's Notes for the Merlin II & III, for Cruise Max. with a weak mixture you would use 2,600 RPM with 2ΒΌ boost. However, I've read that the standard practice was to reduce RPM further to 2,200 but even this could be stretched to 1,800 RPM for the absolute economical speed. I've been unable to match 1,800 RPM for the same reasons you stated in your post.

Hope this helps.

We have 2 active RAF squadrons flying COD IR, check PM mate, you'd be welcome to have a go since if you are into mixtures and settings etc then our kind of immersion would be right up your street :)

^ Replied.

Did anyone notice an improvement in fuel consumption when using weak mixture?

I haven't tested it fully so I'm probably not the best to comment. In a recent BoF mission, we flew a simulated rapid with drawl from a forward base with limited fuel. Some of the pilots reached the new airfield with fuel to spare but others including myself ran out before they could land. Those that landed had switched to auto lean early on but I switched over far too late.
I think it's worth testing if nothing else.
