View Full Version : Modding harder difficulty

I have tried to modify the difficulty of the game (it is nice, but way to easy on impossible).

But if i change the logic.txt in the ses.kfs it doesn´t work like it was at the addon crossworlds. I make a new folder "config" below the session folder and unpacked all of the data of the ses.kfs in it and then i change the logic.txt line:

exp=0.5|1.0|1.30|1.7 // êîýô. ðàñòÿæåíèÿ òàáëèöû îïûòà ãåðîÿ

If i change the 1.7 for impossible to a higher value it don´t count. If i start a complete new game the enemy are the same (weak) as always (even if i add 9.9 at the value).

I can give me more starting money with changes at the logic.txt, so it means i have the correct data and the correct path.

Does anyone have a idea what to change additionally to have a higher difficulty at warriors of the north?

This line only change the exp your hero need to level up. If you want bigger enemy stack change the line with "alead" at start. Also, these are the line that affect damage and hit point of bosses:

bossatk=1.0|1.0|1.4|1.7 // êîýô. àòàêè áîññà
bosshp=1.0|1.0|1.4|2.0 // êîýô. æèçíè áîññà


Still, I think make the game harder is way more complex than just this.

Thank you very much, i am getting old, changing the wrong line:)

I have tested it with the correct alead, but it seems that the first island is hardcoded, because it don´t change much. I am testing a little more tomorrow and i will play the first island to see if there is any really big change in the following islands.

At Crossworlds i had a really good game with 700%. I love to fight battles with a lot of casualties. If i fight thousands of enemies and i have none or only 5 dead units on my side, its a really boring battle.

Please tell how to open .kfs files what program need? It not work with Notepad.

It's a .zip file basically, so you can use something like 7zip

Ah tiberiu our pro gamer and smart man, said it yourself in your `no loss is for stupid people`theme and here you dont know how to open winrar/winzip archive. What a troll.
You dont even deserve right to start new treads on this or any other gaming forum, just come here read if some1 else smarter then you posted and be grateful on it.

Yeah, if memory serves me right, there 2 mechanics to calculate the leadership of enemies. When I opened the game with CW editor I saw stack that have fixed leadership regardless of difficult.
in WOTN there seems to be a lot of such stacks, that's why I couldn't get to level 20 before fighting the spider boss in impossible. It would be easier if an editor existed.

Thanks a lot. Finally I'm so close to making myself a harder challange in this game.

I managed to extract the files and can modify them. But I don't know how can I replace the old .kfs file now. I mean how do I compile them back so that the game use my changes?

Just select the files, archive them to .rar and after, rename the file to .kfs? Would that work?

There is an easier way. Make a new folder "config" at the addon folder, extract all data from the kfs in this folder. The game will now use the extracted data in the config folder and you can modify them without making a new kfs all the time.


@ blacklegionary, i was level 22 at my fight with the spider boss, get the 15% xp from the mind skill and the medal for destroying units with rage and bring the level of the valkyrie that give rage to level 4. The 10 hard fights to reach level 5 are worth really good xp.

If you increase the leadership without increase the exp required for level up then you certainly have more exp than normal, otherwise you must be very lucky . I couldn't reach level 20 at the base value.
When most of the bugs are fixed, I will make a lil mod to increase difficult if there aren't any around :D.

Oh yummy- this is what I need!

I reckon I can work out how to upack and sort out this file thing etc...

BUT what I would really like is advice on the lines of code I would need to change to get a super hard impossible game. I would by very grateful if someone could copy and past the lines of code I could then just copy and past into the file to make it stupid proof for me!

I started no losses try with Soothsayer, following settings

So for 3 losses fights (spider boss and 2 battles on first island). In fact first one of two battles in first island was impossible without temporarily upping more mana with console command. I had lots of challenge in first 4 islands. Now in Greenwort and such places level 24 I wish some more challenge altough most opponents are Lethal or stronger so not very easy fights anyway. I do use Rune mages but modded their phantom skill lower and phantoms only last for 1 turn (die after used action points after summoning).

Difficulty is very well balanced on 4 first islands, after that not so well. This is not for those who want "hardcore no losses" but it seems to offer "challenging no losses" so far.

Difficulty Impossible of course.

which only changes the enemy stack leadership from 170% to 700%. This absolutely means you will suffer losses which I love as you have to evolve you army and thus strategies as you run out of your favourite recruits.

I also found the last two fights truly impossible on the first island so I just kept on wearing down the enemy with suicide runs with the starter army you get after you die - which the took about 30+ suicide runs to soften them up for a possible win.

After the first island for a while I thought maybe it was still too easy but I have killed off about 80% of the enemies and now the game has become delicious as I am having battles that it really is touch and go that I will survive - I may even need to restart!!

Interestingly not changing the experience required to level seems OK as I am on level 17 at the moment and I feel I will be around level 20 if I ever manage to kill off the remaining armies before I tackle the spider boss.

Just as an aside I haven't noticed a single bug in the game yet... and would say with this mod it is my best experience of the series so far!
