I am telling my chief (and only 1 for now) Valkyrie to manage the runes but there is no in-battle animation she does anything.
Please advise.

It's in the bug thread (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?p=473439#post473439). It doesn't do anything that we can tell, and you don't get the option to take back management, either.

She is such a tease.
