i have 3rd level magic shackles and for some reason i can not use this ability on necromancer(of course i have enough leadership for that to work in theory), why is that?

Well, double check the leadership and that you are actually casting the level 2 or 3 version. Level 3 is, I believe, mass shackles.

Shackles worked in KBAP on necromancers, so I'm surprised to find out it isn't right now.

It`s not how many necromancers you can lead, it size of enemy stack that matters. So in this case you have around 7K lds, but in spell description you should have amount of lds needed for spell to cast, it might be above your lds = so if enemy stack have 50or more necromancers you cant use shackles on them.

Well it’s official; I can’t shackle the necromancer if my life depended on it (which usually does). I killed the whole army left with one necro (just to test)and still couldn’t do it, is anybody else has this problem or I just have super necromancers.
For the record I have level 3 spell (mass effect)

I am wondering if this is a bug, too. I was using some Witch Hunters the other day and they couldn't shackle the enemy necros I found... I assumed it was because they only used the basic version but maybe it's that Necros are immune to the spell for some reason.

On an unrelated note, it's kind of funny Witch Hunters have shackle but most of the "mages" they would shackle with it are level 4 so it won't work. Or does it, and it just doesn't work on Necros?

Anyway if anybody has successfully shackled a necro do let us know.

Found problem : in sessions/addon/ses.kfs open spells.txt file and in magic_bondage = magic shackles there is nfeatures list of units imune to this effect and it goes nfeatures=mind_immunity, magic_immunity , pawn , boss
which means units immune to mind spells cant be shackled and all undead are immune to those spells. Remove mind_immunity part of string there and whoala necros can be shackled, problem solved. Have fun :-)

That can't be right. I shackle skeletons all the time to keep them from hitting me in the face.

Me too. But maybe skeletons aren't actually getting the full benefit of mind immunity. I wonder if they can be blessed or not. I've seen them blessed by skalds, but maybe that is because paean is special. Never had one in my army so I haven't tried.

Either way, something is probably going on with shackles, undead mind immunity, or both. And has shackles always been a mind spell? I always thought it was an arcane affect, but I guess I could see where it just makes you "think" you can't use your abilities.

Check to see if necromancers have unlisted 'persistence of mind' effect. Archmages have it, and I believe makes them immune to shackling as well.

I bet they do, and I bet that is what is causing them to be untargetable.

All the checking up has too wait until I get home from work, but out of curiosity you didn’t have any issues shackling necromancers?

We've been talking about it a bit in the patch fixes thread, and it definitely looks like you can't shackle Necromancers (all other undead seem doable tho').
