How to complete the Animal Trainer's Quest?

I mean... you need to find his jacket (an useful artifact, actually - if I could find werewolves), whip and hoop and return them. Trouble is, you can only do that after you have gotten a boat, and you can only get a boat on the first island after you have beaten Eric, and after you beat Eric, you are exiled from the village and can't enter it... :(

So, is there some way to get back and complete the quest later? I could use those runes...

Just go to next island and return with flight, turn in quest.

Also, if you don't talk to certain people in order you can turn it in before first island done (I did this).

You can fly into the city after you get the Valkyrie who gives wings to your horse on the next island, also the city won't be blocked for a long time, just wait , it's not like that every quest is solved at the first time when you visit the island you get the said quest.
