Hi all,

A simple and straightforward question. The key word is 'LIKE'.

Gentlemen, please make your lists.

I like the first version of the cockpits and lighting.

I like, slightly less, the way people keep trying to start these 'enthusiastic' call-to-arms 'rallying cry' threads

It's a bit like me starting a thread called 'What do you really dislike quite about the game?'

That is, it's just an opportunity for arguments and slanging matches under the guise of innocence...otherwise known as getting your retaliation in first.

The difference being this one will probably be allowed to stand.

I like........the way anything remotely positive mentioned about it makes Falstaff get all wound up and have a hissy fit, like a jealous child he just wants to kick everyone elses toys.

But what I really like is what it potentially could be.

I like the way no matter how much of a mess it has become there is still people that bow down and thank the devs for a broken game. I also love the way people can get strung along for over a year and still try to make it out like its the "bestest game evah!" Blinders must have come with the last beta patch I guess.

the sky/haze/horizon, the cockpits, and a feeling of weight/inertia in the fm's.

thats it.

I like the cockpit shadows and the water. It's a very small list, I know.

How can you get so upset by a thread? And if you have no interest at all, why do you post here?

There is no hint of upset or stress, seriously :)

(This is partly down to the Ignore button).

Does eye-rolling count?

I have an interest, otherwise I wouldn't post here.

Anyway, back on topic....I also like the optimism of the fans (I'm not talking about the rabid protectionism of the usual Praetorian guard...I mean the real fans).

I like user made missions. So the mission builder must be good if I can't use it myself it is others using it and they make good stuff.

Thinking about what could have been. The possibilities of the engine are virtually limitless, pretty much anything could be scripted. And to think what could have been if there had been a single game designer in Maddox Games ...

I like the subject of this game.
The Spitfire and the Hurricane.
To fly over the south east of Great Britain and the beauty and precision of it.
The multiple difference of flight models between each plane.
The difficulty to master the engine very limited heath management.
But the ease of the learning curve and the steeps of difficulty.
The multiple and nearly unlimited damage results possible.
The mission building possibilities (weather is my only black point).
The ease and multitude of ways to change and attribute controls (keys, mouse or joystick) to functions in the game.
In one word I “LOVE” this game!
:-P

I like the cockpits and the palne models, and the whole idea of taking part in the Battle of Britain.

I like the regular Friday updates, communication with the forum users, interactive discussion with the developers, regular bug fixes........I like that TD are the new example of what CloD should be like!

Realistically I like the Graphics in the first release (mist on the ground, shadows cast by trees, sunrise and sunset.

Now I just like tbe new tracer and hit (ground impact) effect) in patch 1.08.

I like CEM - It took me a year to be able to fly ONE type of the aircraft in some logical way.

FMB with all of its potential for the builder, and CEM, with hopes it will be expanded on in the sequel.

Chief likes are the plane graphics (internal and external), damage animations, water graphics and the way the sound interacts with Buttkicker esp the way in which the creaking of the fuselage under stress is rendered as a variable shaking.

Mine in no particular order of preference.

1. Graphics. (Vital for immersion).

a) Aircraft detail accuracy
b) Map detail and accuracy
c) Sky and horizon merge
d) Sea
e) Cockpit and crew positions
f) Cockpit lighting/shadows movement
g) Cockpit internal reflections on canopy
h) Sun
i) Detail and accuracy of ground objects

2. Flight Model

3. Damage Model. (The best I've seen in a Flight sim).

4. Bomb explosions

5. Mission Builder (Very similar to il246).

6. Very large maps

7. Sounds

8. CEM

9. Vibrant Community ;)

The shire depth that has gone into both the plane models, environment and cockpit. The level of control you have over the aircraft and how you fly. The near limitless damage modelling but most important the dedicated community which make the multiplayer battles so wonderful and at times tense.

kestrel79

- Exhaust Flames and how they change with fuel mixture (so cool still!)
- INSANE damage model
- Cockpit models and shadows
- CEM
- Some of the engine sounds and flyby sounds

Loving the microstutters:rolleyes:

loving people trying a sim with a pentium 2 :)

seriously:

like:

- Model of planes
- CEM
- DM incrédible
- FMB and its infinite possibility (even if i like it more with a real doc about it)
- The incredible potential of this sim
- the possibility to really now malke an multicrew mission in bomber
- the optimistic community who believe in CLOD (the others don't deserve i comment them)

The potential of the sim is amazing, especially the FMB, and CEM, throw in some RRR and we might have something. I love how the people who say everyone else, but them, are being strung along, are stlll here. Priceless.

It is the potential for me too once the engine is sorted and being a true believer I believe that it has gone a bit quiet on the update and answer front because they are on the verge of something big. Yeah!

The potential is very high.

I am holding out hope for some sort of official patch/add on in the near future. If that one tanks then I think I will have to find a new series of games to play.

like others have said, the potential.

also the graphics, like in first instances of the game, before they toned it down.

i like how the devs are plugging away, small chips . . . incremental fixes.

As long as they are willing to keep at making the game series better, its going to be a worthy successor to 1946

also I forgot to mention was that awesome first time feeling of flying and zipping around that 1946 gave me, that whole flying experience that it gave . . . Cliffs also captures this (when its working).

19 months and there hasn't been one single viable alterative brought to the market, Or even mentioned as a possibility. Says a lot about our niche market.

But then again, put myself in the place of a potential developer looking at the target market and how critical some of them are, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

What do I like about COD. The developers and how resiliant they are and how they continue on with their work even though they are demonised by parts of the community.

Keep up the good work guys!

Yeah. The potential. Lets not hope its not perpetual potential. That said, one gets glimpses of flight simming greatness with this sim. Flying over the Channel (which looks pretty much how I remember it, in terms of colour etc) in superbly modeled A/C, CEM etc is as good as it gets at this time. I know the AI takes a bagging, but I built a mission and as per Heinkills directions with tweaking the AI, it seemed very damn good (Mission-ME109s intercepting a recon Blenheim). How to give directions to your flight? As a flight sim, this sits at the top of the tree for WW2 sims-BUT not as a game ( I regard the modded IL2 as way better there). We can only hope what is obviously broken, gets fixed down the track. Said a million times I guess, but where is the documentation? There seems a lot of features that are unexplained. My two cents.

What do I like? That moment when you have the 109 lined up in your sights, closing from six low. The adrenaline starts and he is completely oblivious until you rake him with the guns. I find it interesting to gauge how awake the pilot is by the amount of time it takes for him to break!
