Hey guys,
after the last patch, human enemy planes disappear when i get close to them. Any solution to this problem please?

Its when it changes from dot to polygon, its not new with this patch. ;)

Just to add to the confusion, sometimes parts of aircraft which are shot off hang in the air and create a dot which will disapear when you get close. Then there are also ghost formations of AI, which I strongly believe are caused by the multiplayer despawn script.

So the planes are actually disappearing when close? I thought I was just losing sight of them with the ground...

depends on the reason.

when dots render to polygons you often lose them. zoom in (fov) to reduce this.

Other dots are actually ghosts. Normally these are in formations. They never render to dots. Only happens in multilayer.

Latest experience I had with it was I came up too fast on a German bomber, passed him at close distance, turned to come back around on him, and he was gone. about 5-10 mins later I saw a message where he was downed, I got credit along with bofors.

It is very disappointing. I am trying to move for advantaged position against my human enemy but he suddenly disappoints. I will be able to see him again when i get far from him. :S

If the server you are on has good briefings and as well reports enemy positions, it isnt generally that hard to find some enemy planes.... I had trouble at first, bu mostly that was due to not being able to navigate very well.

Agree, but it is not finding the enemy thath is the problem . The problem is not to loos them in dogfight becouse of grapic or dotrange issues. ;)

Guys, try this: open conf.ini, and set the "MeshShowLod=" value 1
This solved similar problem for me (before this patch)

what does it exactly?

LOD mean level of detail (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Level_of_detail). The MeshShowLod=1 settings turns off the switching to the detailed and less detailed models if their distance increases. Should be activated only, if there are bug in LOD, because it causes performance slowdown.
